View Full Version : Silent Hunter III makes top 10 !
Hi all,
Let me start with wishing everybody in the community all the best for 2006!!! :yep:
One of the biggest internet providers here in the Netherlands made a top 10 of games released in 2005.....I was very happy to find SHIII in this list (number 10 actually).
They said that SH III was the only real sim game of 2005 (?), and they mention that UBI is working on SH IV as we speak.....
The link below moves you to the article, it is in dutch language though,

They said that SH III was the only real sim game of 2005 (?)
Well, it seems they didn´t know "Dangerous Waters" and "Falcon 4 Allied Force" then. What a bunch of amateurs...

Could not have said it any better myself.
Nice to see SH3 getting on lists like that. However with a comment like they made about SH3 being the only real sim of 2005 they need a reality check.

I bet that you don´t live on the European continent, otherwise you would have understood what I was trying to say. ;)

You are saying there are vast culture differences between the many european countries and that to loop them together under the assumption that all of Europe is alike is wrong.....something like this??

Well, PC Gamer magazine last month just released their winners for games of the year '05 for various genres (Role Playing, 1st person shooter, real time strategy, etc.) and guess who won for "Best Sim of '05" category? You guessed it, Silent Hunter III, and it made their Top 10 Overall as well. And that's here in America! Oh, and so did IGN.com, and Gamespy.com (also on Gamespy's top 10 overall). And SimHQ named it "Best Commercially Available Naval Sim" for '05. FiringSquad.com gave it their Editor's Choice award and called it "the best sim we've played in years." 3DAccelerated.com gave it their Editor's Choice award and said: "Silent Hunter III has pretty much bested any naval sim title that was ever released. It is seriously that damn good," and "Silent Hunter III is by far the best simulation game I have encountered in years." GameChronicles.com (CGM) also awarded it their Editor's Choice award and said: "Silent Hunter III is a gem of a simulation game; for that matter it’s easily one of the top war games of ALL TIME." And yet another Editor's Choice award comes from 3DAvenue.com who also says: "...SHIII is the best pure submarine simulation to date." LoadedInc.com gave it their "Hot Property" award and gave it a 9/10, saying, "I have played quite a few submarines simulators in the past, both on consoles and the computer, and I can say this is by far the best,"
Well, they all must be amateurs too, I guess.

Computer Gaming World magazine will announce their sim of the year Feb. 8th.
I predict SH3 will win :|\

It's a good thing it made various top ten lists, or else I would have never bought it. Saw it on the shelf a couple of times and I have some very fond memories of playing sub sims way back in the late 80's, but for some reason subsiming seemed to fade away from the market and from my interest also.
Anyway, I kept seeing it on the shelfs but with so many great game options out there I would allways leave it and buy something else. After all, It could'nt possibly be that good if it's only half the price of the other games, could it?
But thank God it made so many lists, becuase of that I decided to try it and it's one fo the gratest games ever  !!!
Very impressed with the quality :know: of the original and the modding suport by the comunity is superb :know: (even if they do take a few steps back sometimes ;) )

It is always nice when out favorite sim gets some recognition.
It is also funny to see that virtually any opinion can start a flame war! :88)
