In single missions my type XXI won't move(the only time I've ever used one). Anybody else have this problem? Running IuB plus some eye candy. System Specs are:
AMD Athlon 3000+
1GIG RAM
GForce 6800GT
Sony P1110 21" Monitor
I never have been able to get it to move which really sucks. And yes the engine room is full to capacity and the bar is just below half...ANY HELP will be GREATLY appreciated..TIA...CH

Try putting it in reverse, then put it in forward again.

Doublecheck your basic.cfg settings for the type XXI?
This is assuming you've edited it yourself. I know some odd things can happen if you put in the ID code for a certain part, in the wrong spot.

Haven't changed anything for any of the boats other than what IuB changed...CH
I'll look but I have no idea what i'm looking for..Could you elaborate please?...CH
edit: just looked and noticed that one of the lines had XIX and the one below it had XXI...Changed the XIX to XXI...could this have been the problem?
that wasn't it...this is really starting to p@ss me off...

ignore my last post, If you didnt edit your basic.cfg then thats not the problem.
Try to duplicate the problem, IE, try another single mission and use the type 21 and see if it happends again.

Yep..it happens with all of them

Just so im clear, you start a mission and the sub just sits there.
Wont move forward, wont move backward - on the surfacing im assuming?
Have you tried diving and using E motors?
My thought is now, it might be a mod that is causing the problem but i really cant say for sure. You should see what happends when you accidently type in 1262 (snorkel) into the engine supercharge slot in the basic.cfg (super chargers are 1260 and 1261 - ive editd my basic.cfg far too many times to have the memorized :D )
Mods aside, usually if a boat just sits there after giving the telepgraph an engine order, its a bug that is solveable by just a quick jolt to reverse, and then forward again.
But a boat just stitting there like a cork in the water is a new one on me.

just sits there...on the surface or submerged...did the quick reverse and forward routine also. Still won't move. will try the supercharger fix and let you know...CH
no joy on the supercharger deal...guess I'm just not destined to drive the type XXI...
Maybe try setting a waypoint on the navmap and see it starts?

My only guess is its a mod thats breaking it. If you dont have any active patrols you could try disabeling your mods assuming your using JSGME and try it again.
You did say that the crew bar was under half. Try to put just higher rank officers there and see if it helps?

done that also...Just did a reinstall and patched to 1.4 and it works...I think IuB is screwing it up...installing that now to see if that's it..

Ok did the reinstall and Mods one at a time and it worked every time...launched the via SHIII commander and it didn't work...anybody have a clue as to why?...TIA...CH
What are the dates of the missions? It might be that SH3 Commander won't let you use the XXI before it became available historically.
Ducimus

That could be. I know SH3 Commander has a file that dicatates what boats become avialable and when. All you have to do is rename that file and the game will use the dates in the basic.cfg
EDIT:
by the way, HW3... i like the skin on the type 7 in your sig pic, where'd you get it?

Doesn't matter...setup for a single mission via Commander with the right dates and flotilla and still no joy...
Ducimus, it is the NSS_Uboat7c_Camo. I got it from U-boot.realsimulation.com. The download section there is down at the moment but, should be back up shortly. Terrapin is on vacation and said he would be back on Friday.
The reason why XXI won't go anywhere is Hollywood Advanced and Medals and renown.cfg in SH3 Commander. Problem is same kind as IIA torpedo reloading problem.
Maybe gouldjg could fix this. :hmm:

How would SH3Cmdr's 'Medals and renown.cfg' file cause problems? At the time of the problem it only changed when the crew gets their clasp and Gold Cross.
Anyway, try upgrading to SH3Cmdr R2.4 and see how that goes.
It's not the standard SH3 Commanders Medals and renown.cfg. When using Hollywood Advanced you need add this into it

I would look into that only I'm not running the any of hte Hollywood mods so that can't be it...Thanks anyway...CH
Well it was causing my problems. These are the changes I made to Medals and Renown.cfg to make it work.
NumberOfCrew4=8
Interval1_4=4.1
Interval2_4=5.3
Interval3_4=11
NumberOfCrew5=10
Interval1_5=5.1
Interval2_5=6.5
Interval3_5=13.7
So you need three different kind of Medals and Renown.cfg files when using Hollywood Advanced, one for XXI (diesel and electric engines problem), one for IID, VII and IX and one for IIA (torpedo reloading problem).

the problem more than likely is that IUB's Type XXI crew are not 'seasoned' enough to get the boat running. The crew is to GREEN. I had something like this before.

When this happened to me I had Hanz Grovell bring up his Kubelwagen and tied a rope to it. That only rubbed the tread off of the tires and we all had a good laugh. Then, Gunter Flebekkinhaussen brought up an old PzKpfw I and we tied some ropes and chains to her. After gunning the engines of the tank and the boat, only black smoke was produced. What worked for me was rebooting and reinstalling my entire world.

Get the crank out!
Seriously, do you get this problem with any other boat?
