View Full Version : Bizarre AI behaviour ...
Well there I am, at 107 meters depth 150 miles north of Ireland, and being slowly but steadily arsekicked by a circling British Destroyer, there's me thinking the end of the world is nigh, when a squadron of Sunderlands turn up, and with deadly pinpoint accuracy... sink the destroyer :rotfl:
Then they all regouped and flew off into the sunset!
WTF !?!!

Maybe as the a/c's were approaching they passed thru the destroyers pattern of fire, thus fooling the AI into thinking the DC was a hostile... Only thing I can think of..

SH 3 gave you a Christmas present  .
But yes, that AI is weird. Annoyingly weird.

I've also heard about it doing this a few times before, so I'd say that's what is was.
However, what was the DD shooting at? I doubt there were any German planes about, and the DD must of been a terrible shot to hit a plane with it's deck guns or catapulted DC's :hmm:

Besides from the fact that if you've got a merchant between you and the merchant's escorts, the escort will sink the merchant, I've got another story to tell.
I was tiring of the lack of military traffic, so I went into the editor and added some destroyers and other forms of patrols troughout the Med and North Sea (I didn't know of RuB yet  ).
So I start in the Mediterranean and track the destroyers I've created. An enemy merchant radio contact shows up and one of the destroyers comes so close to it that it must have made visual contact.
...And sails on. I make visual contact with the merchant, destroyer still sails on. I try to radio in the contact, destroyer doesn't care.
I sincerely hope there's more player-AI interaction in the sequel title :nope: .
Well, I did a mission yesterday (it's true) that came with Juju's military mod. It was no meant for actual gameplay, and it only included 8 Clemson destroyers each heading in a different direction so that you could watch them from every lighting angle. Well, I went to periscope depth and voila; they all headed for me! I instantly notice how one of them began to sink. That poor bastard had been between me and the other destroyers. And so I continued to take them out. In the end of the mission I had destroyed them all without ever firing a single torpedo or gunshot! That was fun!
:arrgh!: :arrgh!: :arrgh!:

Same happens to me, i made an emergency dive, due to a so near DD made an attack run, and two Liberators kills that DD when it was just at few seconds to pass over me.
