Ive had much experience with squirrels and they can be very nasty little creatures - but I think watching a video of squirrels being blown away is a bit much... :nope:

They ate my icecream last year. I am living on fourth floor, and kept icecream outside in the balcony as it was -17C outside, and we were cleaning the refrigerator.
On the next morning, I found out that somebody tasted the icecream. The funniest thing is that they climbed through grainy wall.
They are fun creature to see..and to photograph :)

They are still a bit of a cute and cuddly novelty for me here in Britain in particular when I look out my window at home and see them scurrying along the grass or in the trees. I'm sure that will all change with an incident like Mickey1up's bad experience. :D
Kill the Grays as they are pushing out our native Red squirrels here in the UK.
They're all kind of cute if you ask me :yep:
Out of curiosity, Spy, what were you shooting with? .22 of some description?
I have nothing against Squirrrels, but I certainly HATE CATS. They do here at Spain the same damage that squirrels apparently do in other countries of more northern latitudes. :shifty: However I would not blow cats in the air if another method of keeping them away is available.
I had a friend who used to shoot at cats that came over night to sleep on the cushions of his sofa on the garden (The cats ruined the polstery and left there fleas), so I once asked him: Why don't you simply store the cushions by night, so the cats don't jump to sleep on them? And he said: Listen, I don't change my behaviour to fit the one of a cat. Instead, either they change theirs to fit mine, or I blow them up"
Quite difficult to argue against that :hmm:

I share your view. I'm no cat fan but I'm not going to cave a cats skull caved in because of it.
I use a .22 air rifle. Cant use anything bigger, this is all done in my back yard and I cant panic the neighbors with gunshots. Theyll think im a terrorist or something.
I'll take my camera mount next time I go to the country and use it with some real firepower. Squirrels there dont hurt the house so theres no reason to kill them, but its open season on rabbits. Ive got a bolt action shotgun just for blasting them, looking forward to footage from that.
Update :

That was one of those weird ones where you shoot it right through the heart, and it still runs off. Lasted about three seconds before it fell out of the tree, and as near as I can tell it was dead when it hit the ground.
Here are some images. If you dont want to see the bullet hole use this one - http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a234/baronfuzzy/deadterrorist4b.jpg

Real high tech mounting equipment huh! :know:
I made my mount with some scrap wood and a glue gun.

Tightening the wing nut at the bottom clamps it to the stock. It might not be pretty, but I dont hear the squirrels complaining.

Thats cool thanks for the pictures, you must sight the gun from the digital display on your camera. Good idea. I used to own a daisy 10 pump .177 BB gun I was always impressed with its power. Keep gettin rid of those pesky varmits. :dead:

I was never fond of wasps, they aren't the most friendly of the insects.

There used to be tons of squirrels here in Connecticut. Then, the state reintroduced the fisher cat, a voracious natural predator that had been pushed out of this territory many years ago.

Now, in many areas, the squirrels have vanished. So have people's cats, small dogs, chipmunks, etc. Many people are not happy, but nature will seek a balance. Eventually I predict the squirrels will return, but they will be smarter than before...
