Is it just me, or has lately there been almost none of that stuff? There was tons of reports and programs about it in the 90s, I remember well, but lately, I haven't heard anyone really discussing these apart from a rare discovery channel program.
I can add the crop circles to the list of 'dearly departed mysteires'.
Have the believers gone underground or the sightings still take place and it's just that the media pays no attention to them (since so many were proven to be fake). :|\ :hmm:
I think today Media switched to more profitable topics - terrorism, wars, oil etc  And if you want to read about UFO and Nessy - just buy some yellow papers

The trend has shifted to psychics, miracles, and alternative medecines. Although maybe the medias are getting somewhat smarter - That homeopathy meta study got awfully good media coverage :-D
Go see the weekly commentary at www.randi.org, you'll see that the crackpots never went away.
In norway we have a valley called Hessdalen. There were several UFO sightings here in the early 80s. And there still is. We had a professor talk about it at my university. But off course this is not aliens, its a physical phenonemon thats not described yet. Hes established a tracking station in the valley and is currently doing research on it. Pretty interesting, but supernatural... no

The X-files ended.. Thank God, talk about beating a dead horse. I was a big fan but that last season just sucked, plus they killed off The Lone Gunmen (Both the show and the characters!) Ruttin’ FuX Network.

The X-files ended..
I think that can be a strong reason indeed. :rotfl:

Meh. Who knows? Perhaps our alien friends gathered the information they needed. The next time we'll see them is when a dozen dropships land, and they stick pulse rifles in our face ;)
I wanted an Alien Invasion for Christmas, but I guess I've been naughty. No aliens yet. :(
Failing that, I asked for a Nuclear Holocaust. No luck on that either. Damn :damn:

I think the idea has been done to death in media indeed - like remember how we had the X-files, and than blockbuster 'hits' like the Independence Day, etc. None of that is out - apparently the global warming and terrorism has taken up most attention in the movies these days, together with some really stupid shallow comedies.
Obviously the UFOs finally found Nessie, which is what they were looking for. They abducted her and went back to their far galaxy, so none of them is any longer among us

Well at least the modders are getting closer to adding sea monsters to SH3 :) .
I'm feeling inspired by this...
Perhaps I can rap myself up in foil and cristmas tree lights and get media attention :hmm:

What, you mean like London does with the Queen?
The Highland Tourist economy was booming long before the Monster story broke in the modern era for the first time in 33.
As for the lack of stories, go to the Fortean Times website and visit the forums. You will be astounded - in many ways.
In general, though. 1st of Jan 2000 was like a switch being thrown. Something to do with Pre Millenium tension apparently.

Perhaps the lack of media attention for UFO's and Nessie was caused by some real natural phenomenons that kept them busy, like a tsunami, a mega earthquake in Asia, a huge mudslide in South and two super hurricanes in North America, not to mention the small coines...
<--- liked the "Outer Limits" TV-series. :yep:
