The Silent Hunter I Pacific Thunder Campaign V is ending in two months. Although you may join at any time, the next campaign will begin March 7, 2006.

The Pacific Thunder Campaign is a naval warfare sim community where we reenact American submarine warfare against the Imperial Japanese Navy during the Pacific War. Campaign participants use the excellent Silent Hunter I submarine game from Strategic Simulations, Inc. to conduct historically based war patrols and unrestricted submarine warfare in the Pacific Theater.

If you are interested in participating in the Pacific Thunder Campaign please visit our fleet website http://www.subsowespac.org/ to learn more about us and to sign up.

There is also a tech section and a Forum with instructions and help for running this great DOS classic on Win XP.

Wow, your Pacific Thunder campaign looks really good. I put away Silent Hunter a couple of years ago but after looking at your website http://www.subsowespac.org/ I've reinstalled it. Thanks for running the PTC campaign and reviving my submarine career again. I'll be signing up for Pacific Thunder in time for your next campaign; should be fun.

And with the new Torpedo Change Tool I makes going on a mission a breeze!

What is this new tool?

Do you have utility that allows you to change your weapons load before or during a career patrol?

If yes, can I get a copy?

Thanks.

I was an alpha and a beta tester. This tool allows changing torpedoes ... for instance MK-14's to MK-10's etc. Also, it is a Patrol Zone selector, crew experience changer, Boat class and individual Boat / name and hull number picker, reload fuel... the list goes on.

I know that it was passed out to the SubRon CO's to pass out to their respective submarine skippers for use in this campaign but I don't know if it is available for download anywhere.

I found it at http://www.subsowespac.org/ download section.

I may give a try. Do steam torpedos improve the chances of your shots being spotted in day light and dodged before impact?

Thanks.

Hi Mark. They certainly do increase the chances of being spotted, although I prefer the MK-14's for their greater explosive power and speed... especially later in the War when there are fewer duds and they are more reliable.

I just finished checking it out.

A very nice utility indeed.

If I play more SH1, I can definitely see myself using it.

Thanks for the "heads up"!
