I can't remember if this stuff's been posted before, apologies if it has. I've been playing around with Google Earth (while waiting for my hangover to go away) and found a few subs:

Ex-RN Upholder class boats in Halifax at 44 39 23, - 63 34 45

US boats (688?) in Pearl Harbour at 21 21 04, -157 57 36

Just copy and paste the co-ordinates into the search field in Google Earth.

Edit:

2 RN Trafalgar class boats in Plymouth at 50 23 25, -4 11 35, with another 2 in the basin nearby and HMS Ocean and either HMS Albion or HMS Bulwark and a Type 23 frigate quite clearly shown.

You can also make out a couple of Trafalgar Class SSNs at Plymouth. You have to look carefully - but if you know where the navy tends to berth T-Boats you can spot the odd one.

I think our posts overlapped :O)

The 4 decommissioned Resolution class SSBNS, plus Dreadnought, Swiftsure and Churchill are laid up at Rosyth: 56 01 13, -3 27 11

Some day someone'll make a decision on what to do with them!

[prays for the day when the RN decide to convert old subs into racers and build a underwater course]

Indeed...I should have checked more carefully

To answer your other point, I haven't seen anyone do this before...so keep it up
