I had an overheating problem this summer, and fixed this problem with a very simple solution. I opened up my case.

You can actually make your computer worse off, running it with the case open, believe it or not. If your going to do that its best to have a small fan running, directed at your motherboard.

At the moment your running your computer at room temp.

Good idea, but I couldn't get it to work with my 6600GT card.

I have got a asus 6600 gt card and i can see the temperature and log it using riva tuner program 2.0

in summer i decided left a side of the case opened a bit because the temperature was a bit high :damn: 80º celsius without air conditioning.

Now in winter i have the box closed :up:

Thanks, that one works, running 60c here while system is idle...wonder if thats about right?

It is nice to allready have one included with the Video card itself. :lol:

This 37 degrees C. is Idleing here browsing the web but I've never seen it over 57 C. during SH3 or a frame puller like FarCry.

But this Nvidia GeForce FX 5950 Ultra 256 MB AGP card ( 2 years old now I think ) has its own two fans plus there are 8 more fans in the computer keeping things cool as "Alienware" designed it.

My computer room is allways around 72 F. and I've never had a computer heating problem. ( Knock on wood :) )

Knowing the temp of your GPU is a good thing.

The 6600 cards have two modes,

one is the 2d and the other is the 3d, used for games,
in the 3d mode the gpu clock runs faster than in 2d or iddle, for this is very useful the temperature log, and know what temperature have the card running games. :88)
