Most likely, Neal is reprimanding you for the baiting you did in Excalibur Bane's thread. Baiting is fine, but not when you hijack someone else's topic to do it.
Keep your eye on the soap.

Baiting: Dropping provacative statements in the forums just to stir the waters; to single out and to bait other forums members in order to provoke a strong reaction from them
The Problem: Flamebait
"Flamebait" (sometimes rendered "Flame Bait") is a subject that people feel strongly about and which almost always causes causes sharp divisions in viewpoint. In general, these topics involve sex, religion and politics. Here are some examples of topics that are considered flamebait:
Abortion
Atheism
Capital punishment
Gun control
Legalization of drugs
When flame war veterans see one of these topics come up, they often restrict their reply to something like, "This is flamebait; I'm not touching this topic." Inexperienced users, on the other hand, blithely charge in, and the same tired arguments are trotted out for the millionth time. Nobody changes their position and everybody gets irritated.

If lesser forum skippers see even Kapitan is subject to discipline, they will think twice before hijacking threads and baiting ;)

I think it is because ya are getting carried away with the polls maybe...? On reading the definitions of flamebait I admit, I must be a pretty big fish in being roped into many a topics that fall under this definition...but....I think this board probably has a pretty diverse and broad spectrum of peoples on it and am really happy with all of the discussions and polls and have come away with more understanding of different cultures and peoples views on things.
Guess we need to start the "Free Kapitain" thread soon. :)

Yes, Kaptain...you took a topic that everyone was laughing about a dud torpedo launch and turned it into a comparison of American vrs. Russian training.
XabbaRus
11-27-05, 03:28 PM
Thank god. Actually Kapitain does seem to hijack threads and his pro-Russian thing at all costs is wearing thin, bordering on the insanely annoying.
Also though I will take the mickey out of my American cousins the "typical yanks" thing aint here...certain situations where it isn't appropriate.

me hijack ??? i make comments some of which taken wrong way because well as you can see im not good with english (never have been)
when i said typical yank i didnt mean it offencivly xabbarus you being british should know what i ment (kinda oh god theyve done it again)
if you want a good larf at a balls up from russia theres plenty during the st petersburg naval show this year a ship partialy sank itself on its own mine during training exercise
its not the same but when russia balls up it balls up unlike americans which take it in thier stride as we all saw on that video id doubt a russian could larf off that torpedo failure
i think that if that was a russian ship everyone would be going below not wanting to get in tthe captains way incase they get accused of it being failed

its not that im anti american because i acctualy find americans quite easy going more so than germans or russians but you do get some who think that they are gods gift and that america is special and invincible its a trait from school ive sadly carried over to here which isnt good.
ive tried to get out of it and thats why some times i bump things up just to shut some peolpe up and some times i dont even need to bump things up and its the truth one example.
typhoons and oscars can take direct hits from the MK48ADCAP
now thats not my oppinion in fact it comes from a US navy analyst named Norman Polmar and he is quoted saying that time and time and time again yet i say it and i get the bible lobbed at me but i said it third had you see
it annoys me that some americans think america is all it because blatently no country is it at all america russia or britain are far far far from it
i could sit around all day and list pages upon pages of defence defects in all navys same as anyone else could just got to know how to do it the part i dont grasp is how to put it

Oiy. Now I KNOW it's time to get some sleep. 24 hours up and your entire post looks like gibberish.
Seriously, you need to learn better english writing. It's really hard to understand what your saying if I have to decipher every post. I'm not one to nitpick usually, but if I can't understand a post, that's really bad because I'm pretty good at getting the drift of a post, even if it's written badly. No offense intended, of course. I wish I could read and write more then one language myself.
Then again, maybe it's just me and I need some sleep.
Ugh, I'm going to bed. Definately....soon...after this race....

Yeah, but we have to respect the rules. This is Neals site after all. So we can't argue. Put it this way there are forums that ban you for life. So we should consider ourselfs lucky. But im glad this is happened not for kapitains misforture but for the reason i didn't even know we could get sent to the brig :o And ive never heard of baiting until now. :88)

Of course, you guys know this "punishment" is in good fun. The fun being mainly when the guy in the brig starts asking "why?" and "what he has done" :) And when the others pledge to rescue him....
...the real punishment is having to keep this forum running smoothly and answer all the PMs :88)

C'mon Neal... it could be worse! at least you dont have to live in Texas!....
oh wait....
Now as for Kaptain.. has anyone contacted Sailor Steve? or explained the "Drebble made me do it" defense ?
Remember.. here at Subsim, it is assumed that a members guilt, until proven otherwise..., was actually caused by Drebbel to begin with!

You definately have my supreme admiration and respect. I know what's it like. When I ran the UBB (http://www.ubb.org/) for four years, I was working nearly 16 hours a day, 7 days a week and I got no pay out of it. It's hard work keeping track of over six hundred people in seven different time zones. The hierachy proved to be a nightmare, not to mention coordinating with the development team. Players appreciated it though, and that's what counted. Besides, it's not like it didn't have a few perks (http://www.ubb.org/award.jpg).
Keep up the good work Neal!
