Literally and figuratively...

Looking through the periscope or Uzo, I can't see anything during the evening. I'm having to use the Watch Officer to update a ship's position and wait until dawn before I can attack. Is the evening always such a washout-black?

KL,
Are you using RUB 1.45? Seems like the night was a little to dark for
me. but not that dark? When you get 68 you don't remmber much :D
seems I was using the JSGME installer Roll back SH3 commander
and removed the env folder in RUB 1.45 I think that puts you back to stock Ver 1.4b night settings and I used SH3 commander to adjust my
water settings to 18 but you were talking about the dark nights.
All so your Gamma settings mit effect that may be some of the other
vets mit have some idea's
Regards
Lane :D

Hmmm, I think BdU should keep you on land if you literally can't see at night :-j

I also assume you are using RuB or another mod that changes the water? I changed my water back to the original version and can see fine, otherwise if I am playing at night (real world time) I can see while using the RuB water.

If you don't mind me asking. I'm currently using RUB 1.45 only and am having the same problem with the black of night. How do you adjust the water settings to the original but still utilize RUB 1.45? Thank you in advance

Try using 'Marhkimov's LIGHT NIGHT mod'. You can find it here
http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/. In the general down load section.

The mod lightens the night sky and allows easier spoting thru the UZO and scopes.

Isn't it more realistic though? On an over-cast night at sea you wouldn't be able to see a bloomin' thing, guess real u-boat captains just had to deal with it. :-?

It does seem strange that you can spot ships from 8km away at night. On a moon-lit night with no fog you could proberly make out large ships on the horizon, but being able to easily spot destroyers seems to easy...
I use the default water though because your watch crew can seem to see things anyway, so I don't want to be the only blind guy on board ;)

The only reason I like to use the clear water setting is to watch my boat gliding through or diving/surfacing.....lovely sight. :)
