Hello,
2 or 3 days ago there was a 45 min report on cold war issues, with some (for me ) real new aspects that were not even mentioned in "Blind man's bluff". What was astonishing that they did have evidence and witnesses to prove their statements - seems that some of the cold war warriors start to talk ... and that nearly all we were told about events related to submarines seems to be BS.
The main claim of the report were the British and US participation in turning the political tide against the swedish Premier Olof Palme. Sweden now begins to investigate the foreign participation again in detail, they obviously got information from someone.
The recovering of the Russian K-219 was the other main theme.
The internet is full of claims of conspiracies and the like, but to see former brigade generals and admirals talk about this was frightening to say at least. If anyone saw this, what do you think about it ?

K219 would be impossible to raise if not impossible incredibly difficault

K219 sufferd a fire and that would have put stress on the hull causing it to fracture so if it was raised it would or will more than likely split apart or disintergrate even if K219 is in one piece.

i think K219 is in bits because it must have hit the bottom very very hard possibly doing what happend to the scorpion where the rear end pushed its way forward.

K219 dont forget was 15 years old when she sank a relic to most sub skippers she had already past her service life or was on that stage.

K219 sank in waters over 10,000 feet i believe its possible but what would america want with a clapped out submarine that could bearly float ?

the captain would have removed documents of value before she sank anyway so the only think thats left is the missiles which were out of date anyway

if K219 was raised where would she have been put ? how could the US hide this submarine ? it was ok for the K129 it wasnt as big but consider the K219 as the equal to the benjamin franklin or laffyaete class fair diffrence.

reason for limiting it to K219 because i dont uderstand the rest

K219 - Yankee I SSBN
K129 - Golf II SSB
K129 - Delta III SSBN

K129 - Delta III SSBN

Aaaah, didn't realise they used the same pennant number for two hulls...I wonder what the men on the Delta III thought of that...having the same pennant number as a boat which sunk

If that matters, talking about Cold War conspiracies, the government unclassified former secret documents from the Cold War era in search of evidence and hard proof against the USA interventionism...

...only to find out the Americans did far, FAR less than what was previously believed.

The pandora box can go both ways. ;) :D

Hello,
those conspriacies and theories certainly have a good time in the internet, and accusations are always to take with a grain of salt. However if former sub captains talk of missions you never heard of, and are backed up by their former adversaries..
The K-129 i meant was the Russian sub that sank on its way to Hawaii, and later was rescued by the "Glomar Challenger" supposed to pick manganese knolls from the sea floor. They now claim the Russian boat was lifted completely, including missiles and all. As well an investigation committee claims K-129 was rammed by a US sub. I only saw this on TV, so this is not the revelation ;) . That's why i asked if someone saw it etc..

russian and americans dont have the same story well ish the old USS seawolf arrived in yokasuka japan for heavy repairs to her bow this was 8 days after K129 sank and it was belived that seawolf was near that area.

:hmm:

admiral victor degaylo submarine squadron commander at the times said "i will not believe that she sufferd a malfunction i believe that the submarine seawolf rammed and sank her and il believe that till my last dieing breath"

i wonder :hmm: :hmm:

to raise 5,000 tonnes takes alot and her hull was fractured if it was or wasnt a collission therefore it would be weak and eventualy beak apart but bear in mind the rear wieghs more that the front so if it did the back end qould drop first
