Hello,
I have just started playing this and love it. I started carrer mode after the academy, but I was wondering how to finish a patrol properly. Do I have to return to the harbour from which I came or can I just hit ESC after all my missions are complete? I get a window asking if I want to abandon the mission, but I don't want to do that. How do I finish it properly?
Thanks

Ok, you can select the "return to base" from the ESC menu, or sail to the port yourself. A couple things on this:
1. In order to have "return to base" option come up, you must be surfaced and not be detected by anyone. You cannot return to base while being chased by a destroyer for example.
2. When you get close to a port, the option will change to "Dock at: [insert port name]" You don't have to physically dock the U-Boat yourself by the band, just look for the option when you get close. It actually works from a good distance away (several clicks at least).
3. You gain a small renown bonus for using option 2.

I see...thank you. I will look for these options next time out on patrol.

I have another question. I have a 7800GT and I was wondering what the "optimal" settings are? Is there anywhere I can read about what to set in the display preferences for this card?
I also have a display glitch. It looks as some textures are overlayed with a white ghostly see-through texture. Is this due to a display setting?

:ahoy: Paragon if you have not yet start a thread/post about the card issue but my first question would be what drivers? are you using the very latest drivers for Nv? often time these things solved by new/better drivers. If you are uncertain about proceedures to install new drivers let us know plenty here in community will help

I have driver ver. 81.85, is there reason to update to the latest? Do they solve any issues with SH?
After having asked this question I found via search that it is a driver issue, but I'm not sure it is solved in the latest ver.

I am posting mainly to bump this thread up.
I do not have a Nv card myself so can only make guesses that they address the issue - I bet they do but to be sure you should make seperate subject posting here about driver issue with Nv7800 card maybe someone else have same.
Or check with Nv website.
Or search this forum:
http://forums.guru3d.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=21
It is part of Guru3D or even all Guru3D do a search.
But I have a x800xt PE ATi card so I am not much more help.
