I've started a new career in 39.

I want to get the most renown possible in the first few patrols because i want the IXB, more torpedoes, and most possible tonnage in the long run before the inevitable end (1943).

In the WIKI, renown per ship is listed. However, I also know that tonnage for standard ships varies - e.g. tankers coming from the west have more tonnage than those leaving England.

Do you get a standard amount of renown per ship, or is it proportional to tonnage for that ship?

You get 25 % of the total renown, with a greater percentage for higher realism.

Renown for sinking ships should increase as the war progresses. It is harder to sink 100k tons in 43 than in 40.

I'm pretty positive that it's a flat rate, there is no adjustment for the tonnage of each ship.
