Hello,

I went into Loch Ewe bay on november 39 searching for some big ship to hunt. Well, I was very happy to see Nelson battleship anchored in the middle of the bay, but wen i started to approach the ship, I saw that it was completely surrounded by subnet. The ship was in the center of a net square without any passage/entrance.
Do you think this situation is realistic? I cannot torpedo the ship and the ship cannot manouvre because it is trapped inside a 'cage'!!

I tried to break throughout the net at full speed but it was useless. I also tried to fire 3 torpedoes at the same place in the net, hopping to open a hole, but it was also useless.

Do you know any way to sink that ship?

Thank you.

PS: in a previous carreer I went to the same port and I did not have any problems in sinking the Nelson. However, it was in December '39. It is possible that this particular net protection will be removed later in the war?

Torpedo nets were fairly standard protection for ships moored over longer periods of time in WW2. In the famous attack on the Tirpitz, the midget submarines went under the torpedo nets surrounding her.

If the nets go all around the Nelson and go down to the ocean floor in the harbour bay, I see no way to attack her... except by gunfire of course ;)

So the sub nets run all the way to the surface? Did you try to set your torps to run just bellow surface?

Yes, the nets nun all the way between the bottom and the surface.

I will try to fire my torpedoes at 0m, hoping that they go over the net, surfing at the surface.
