When will they make a movie about a young sailor who enters boot camp and decides submarines are his career. he goes to sub school and is assigned to a fast attack and he raises to the rank of COB. I'm tired of the movies that glarmorize of branches of the military and leave us out.

Reminds me of a saying from my 'bubblehead' days:

The Marines - A few good men;
Submarines - ALL good men!

On my first boat the MSC had a tattoo on his forearm; his dolphins surrounded by the phrase "The only good Marine is a Submarine". Not to discredit what our brave Jarheads are doing over in Iraq and Afghanistan..but it's always good for a chuckle. :rotfl:

Yeah, because they never made any movies about submarines. Das Boot, The Enemy Below, Gray Lady Down, HFRO, and Crimson Tide must be figments of my imagination...

Geez I was looking forward for the opportunity to watch this movie. Was hoping it was along the lines of Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers.

Is it that bad?

Das Boot, The Enemy Below and Crimson Tide hardly "glamorize" the submarine service. Das Boot was more of an Anti-War movie than a war movie, The Enemy Below is another Anti-War movie, and Crimson Tide is about a loony skipper wanting to start WWIII and a mutiny. With the exception of Das Boot, K-19 and THFRO all submarine movies from Hollywood in the past 25 years have either been incredibly bad or non-existent.

Once Hollywood gets is ass in gear and makes ‘Thunder Below’ in to a three hour masterpiece I might change my mind.

I never said that there were no submarine movies being made. the point i made is that there are no movies about submariners and what it takes to be one. The Navy only takes the best and the brightest for sub service.
I think it is time that what these men do to be Bubbleheads be glamorized; just like fighter pilots, soldiers and marines.
