View Full Version : Sou'westers?
I've seen the crew wearing them in some screenshots, but I've never seen them in my game. Is it a mod or do I need to hang out in the North Atlantic more?
P.S. It seems that most of you guys are more u-boat experts than me, so you probably already know, but sou'westers are the raincoats that the u-boat crew wore when on watch.
If you are using a mod that allows you to fire you guns in any kind of weather or adjusts StormCoditions you won't see the crew in their rain gear or you won't see them in rain gear until the Storm conditions are met. Its only when you can't fire the guns that the crew dons raincoats. I'm using the Bad Weather Guns mod, so it could be a hurricane out there and my watch crew will still refuse to don their gear.
Stormconditions are in the SHIII/data/submarine/NSS_Uboat(U boat type) folder. In each type's folder look for the NSS_Uboat(U boat type).cfg Each sub has its own Stormcondition listed in these .cfgs
What can I say. I lost to many kills because of 7m/s winds :damn:
The sun is shining brightly, and there is white caps on the waves, but I can't fire my frigging guns. :hulk:

Ah! That explains why my crew have forgotten how to dress properly too. Thanks. It's a small price to pay for being able to use the deck gun.
Someone out there told me that your crew will not change into their foul weather gear if they are already on watch (in good weather) and the weather goes bad or visversa. This seems to be the case because submerged and came back up and tada! they are in their foul weather gear! I've also done it by sending them to rest and then puting them back up on the bridge.
Makes perfect sense, thanks. I like simple answers like that. I have edited that file to where I can use the guns in any weather, too, so that explains it. That sucks, though, because I'd like to see them in their gear, but I'm not about to give up the ability to use my deck gun.
I've been tooling around in a IIA so I don't have that option yet :) I'm sure I'll be cursing the wind when the time comes though.
