Game CTD When Accessing Career Save

Hoping someone can help me with an issue that started tonight. I'm trying to access one of my two current careers - now in midst of Patrol 3. But every time I click on 'accept' for my captain's name, I get a black square and booted back to desktop - with message: 'SH3 has encountered an inconvenience etc and has to close..' Accessing my other saved career is no problem. I have been experiencing a few Blue Screen crashes every few days over past couple of weeks. Running RuB 1.44, SH3 Commander and a few non intrusive mods .. they've been on my system for quite awhile and up until now, I've never had any probs. I do have a lot of 'save' files in the career that is giving the difficulties... is there a limit to how many saves you can have?

A similar thing happend to me once. I never had any CTD's when loading or reloading a saved career until this one time where I had done an overwrite to a save.

In patrol I save after every ship I sink - bw1, bw2, bw3 and so on. Once I saved over a previous save, let's say bw3, and it accepted the overwrite fine.

The next day I tried to load that save and it started to load and then CTD. Tried several times. Then I loaded the save just behind it - bw2 - and it launched fine and it was just minor set back.

I don't think this has anything to do with your setup or mods. Did you do an overwrite to a previous save?

Enfilade, love your banner, did you make that with what progam? I have Paint shop pro 9 and photoshop.

I use to get CTD such as yours, i found moving all the careers i aint going to load into another folder as backup and only have the career i want to load for that time. In other words one career at a time in your save folder. If you want to load another career then move the career your using into the backup folder and replace with the one you want to use.

Kiwi... thanks for your reply. I had wondered about a potential conflict with two careers, especially as I was getting some crossover in the newslog dates for them when loading. I'll delete my other career and see if this helps. Otherwise, I'll have to start a new career (with a new banner sigtag...lol).

The banner wasn't designed by me.... one of the guys at the 21st Flotilla designs them for the members to use as sigtags... the medals etc on the banner change according to tonnage. We play as close as possible to full realism at the 21st... required mods are RUB and SH3 Commander. Manual targeting, restricted use of deck gun, etc. We're a small group (thus far) and enjoy writing up our patrol reports.

Teufelschiff, yes.. in fact I did numerous overwrite saves in this career. I'll avoid doing this in future... I tend to agree that this problem is something to do with a 'career' folder conflict or a game 'save' issue rather than something mod-related.
