Type VIIC/42 operational depth

According to the manual the VIIC/42 has an operational depth of 250m, having just upgraded to one, when I got to deep water I took her down to 245m as a test and started losing hull integrity.

Does anyone know the actual operational depth (ie the depth it can operate at without damage) of the VIIC/42 ??

It would also be nice if the various "we are diving too deep" warnings adjusted when you change to a deeper diving boat.

There was no 'operational diving depth' for the Type VIIC/42 (nothing other than perhaps a projected operational depth) because no Type VIIC/42 U-boat was ever built. I'm not sure why the boat is even featured in the game.

As for why it starts to lose hull integrity at 250m, that's because its crush depth is determined by the exact same file as the Type VIIC. The Type VIIC/41 has the exact same problem. The only way to get the Types VIIC/41 and VIIC/42 to have their correct crush depths is by using SH3 Commander. So far, SH3 Commander only includes a fix for the VIIC/41, but one for the Type VIIC/42 could easily be made if anyone wanted to make it.

You might want to try Timetraveller's Crush-Depth util. It will change crush-depths for any sub.

The util includes 'suggestions' as to how deep particular subs could dive, although some seem a bit much.

As Beery mentioned, VIIC/41 and VIIC/42 share the same config file as the VIIC. Just something to keep in mind if you try this utility.

As mentioned about crew alerting 'diving too deep' warnings, the util doesn't fix this either, but you will be able to dive deeper. The random-depth setting is is kind of neat too.
