This happened awhile back and I thought it was a glitch but now two missions in a row.
Last mission:
April 1942
Type VIIC returning to Brest.
Attacked an EB convoy and scored a number of hits before being pounced on by escorts. One Tanker was heavily damaged, low in the water in heavy seas. Last seen before crash dive wallowing around- I figure guaranteed tonnage. After hours spent evading the escorts I was able to surface and proceeded to chase the convoy at high speed. The next day I came across that same tanker still low in the water, following the convoy at very slow speed. Since the seas were greatly reduced I decided to finish off the straggler with the deck gun. About an hour later the ship finally went down. No exclamation from crew/no icon on map showing sunk ship/no record in the log.
Current mission:
Late may 1942
Grid BF13 entrance to Irish Sea
Attacked a convoy heading ENE. Confirmed one C2 sunk. Scored one hit on a Liberty ship which immediately came to a stop and settled at the bow.
Escorts started heading in my direction so we dove to about 60m/silent speed/1 kt. I positioned my boat very close to the Liberty thinking the escorts would not dc me so close-I was right. After about 2 hours the Liberty sank. (Viewed with F12 key almost on top of my boat) Once again no exclamation or acknowledgement from crew/no map icon/no record in log.

Two times in two missions is a bit much. Anyone have any ideas on this?

Yeah, happend to me as well on a few ocasions. :hulk: I shot a Troop transport and after 5 minutes it went down...no credit for the kill.

No idea what is causing this, perhaps Time Compression?

I have had similar incidents, but never in such a short timeframe as 5 minutes. Mine were either several hours, the longest was two days. Yes, two days is a long time to wait for a ship to sink, but it was the first time I had it happen to me. I was out of ammo and torps and the C3 had a good list to port so I waited and waited an waited. Seas were fairly rough and I was in high TC. Finally she just rolled over and I got no credit. However, I have had ships sink in TC. I think it has something to do with how rough the seas are, but can offer up no proof of this, just that when it has happened, it has been in heavy seas.

More than once I did not get credit for a ship which was about to sink while I was reloading. When I reload an earlier save where the ship is not yet hit or in an early sink state it does not seem to happen. I'm not sure what causes it but now I save before I torpedo a ship and directly after the hit. If I continue to play later and have problems getting credit for sinking a ship I reloaded the save which I made directly after the hit, even if I loose some in game hours.

This has happened to me more than once, but I've always assumed it was like the real war. Many vessels, both surface and submarine, were lost without a known reason, or accountability.

U-262 has left Bergen for the last time. Heavy air attack was fought off in the bay before reaching the open sea. The date is May 5, 1945.

We will proceed at Ahead Slow, hoping to engage the enemy again before the end. If we should survive the war, a trip through the Channel and on to New York will be considered if hull integrity and fuel permit. We will cutting it close in a VII-C/4.

Good hunting all.

Yeah, I guess just chalk it up to a game bug.
