USMORS remember them

I first came across them after the NWS - Sub Command Project fiasco and when Charles Burgess split from them and went off on his own. I remember him saying about USMORS and how he was using his own dbase mod. Said something about USMORS being a consultancy for the US DoD, well that is what the website says.

Thing is when I look under the list of services it just seems to be dvd covers, inserts etc.

Wasn't USMORS or NWS planning a mod for SC but ended up pulling the plug on it for some reason? All I can recall was that there was considerable controversy over the whole thing. I haven't been back to that site for at least a couple of years.

Yea there was. something happend. Charles Burgess was the guy doing it and Sub Command Project only got as far as altering sensors and then it died.

Burgess went off with this USMORS thing which I think was over hyped as something uber special but seems to be nothing but a paper fish....

The whole website is a weird mix of various things. The links you have on the page you linked, lead to an image gallery, which in my opinion only consists of a couple of default thumbnails. Thats just an example ..

Charles did create his own dbmods...

The two mods were used by the VMC Navy for years before Dangerous Waters came out and have taken the bulk of it's operations. XabbaRus, why deflame the website instead of just emailing him about your questions? I do admit that the website is a generic template that hasn't been updated, but come on...

I also won't get into the specifics about what happened between Charles and NWS except that it was a difference of views.

Yea I have a little bit of animosity left over from the SCP thing...there was a bit of history with it too....

I just find it amusing when people make big statements and then it seems to be smoke and mirrors...

I just remember some of the claims made and nothing since then.

As for darksythe accusing me of belittling people's efforts I know he was referring to a couple of comments I made in the Luft/Ami thread even though those comments were nothing of the sort.

Just to make a few points clear aswell. I don't think the mods I have been involved in are the best, I don't think we are the best, the first or the last. I am well aware and happy for others to do mods, the tools are available. I have my reasons for using or not using certain mods based on stuff I have seen in them.

Oh as for DWX. It might happen it might not. Although I for one have said stuff to the effect that it should happen after patch 1.02. Maybe I shouldn't have and raised expectations. Transferring the SCX data to DWX is a mamoth task. Ludger has been quiet as has Thomas....I haven't a clue what they are up to. I just make the models.

As for the USMORS thing...well I was just amused by it recalling how it got set up. Burgess I am sure is doing worthwhile stuff in the real world in his realm of competence and good on him. The rest of the stuff, well lighten up....

Well actually i was refering to your post regarding USMORS. we already cleared up the things from the other post. I am not one to rehash past disscussions to make my points. I think i make them clearly enough.

Charles, and his son are both very good friend's of mine, and since he is not here to defend his name and work I feel the task falls to myself. I have worked with charles on projects both inside and out of the VMC navy off and on for the last 4 years or so. And i can promise you this he is not the type to go around saying hey lets laugh at this modders site or lets say this guys work sucks. Well i can not lay reasoning to the websites, "Generic, Unfinished Look" i can agree as a web designer that it is not a very good looking site, But it is from what i can see an ongoing experiment with a templating package.

I also require of you to remember the fact that Charles's Modding attempts far outdate yours and probably most of the community members efforts(Barring the silent hunter scene), and just because you were not privelaged enough to see the outcome of the USMORS SCP does not give you any right to judge it.

Either way you look at it i judge you as a man of very poor character. And in the future it will a considerable amount of persuasion for me to lend any weight to anything that dribbles out of your mouth.

I can't understand why USMORS SCP was kept under wraps behind closed doors.

The reason I did things the way I did was that I was under the impression that USMORS was supposed to be some defence consultancy that has been around for a few years now. As a result seeing the website as it is now made me laugh as it doesn't seem to represent what USMORS is supposed to be especially in relation to some pretty bold statements way back when USMORS first surfaced as to what they were going to do with regards defense analysis etc. I even asked some people I know in the UK military if they'd ever heard of USMORS and they told me they had never heard of it.

I never said his work was rubbish ie USMORS SCP because we never did see it.

I was refering to the NWS SCP which was built up to be something that was supposed to be quite spectacular and some comments at SCX when we first started out.

You can think what ever you want, I'm not really that bothered as I will soon have other things to keep me very busy with DW.

Well im guessing you are refering to DWX? if so does that mean that in the past few hours you have recieved new information about it? because a few posts up you claim that you arent't sure if it was even going to happen.
