Americas Army is an online tactical shooter based on teams or go it alone. it is in the top 5 online games. The new patch 2.5 has just come out so im back play it.
The game is free to get (900mb download) and free online. Theres training missions where you can learn to be a marksmen/medic/ or just the usual grunt. Medic comes in handy cos you get to heal those while playing this you earn "Honor points" All the weapons in the game are realistically portrade and theres numerous clans. eg Mossads, maori battlions/ Navy seals etc., The game can be play very well just with a 56k. Missions range from attacking bridge defenses/ bunkers to jumping of a plane and attacking enemy bases. Gameplay is played out by Honor points you start off with 10 honor if you dont do all the training missions your honor is lower at the start and its up to you to become elite. The higher honor the more respect you get. Honor tops at 100. AA ois addictive.

Its like SH3 in a sense it has strong comradeship only your close to real human players not AI sailors. And when a buddie goes down you really feel the lost! :-)

Tips: play on Official or Honor Servers only. Clan servers are ok as long as they're monitored servers. Cheats lurk in AA but us honest players do everything we can to kick them, this is why the above servers are the best.

A few days ago whilie playing AA i was in the map called insurgent camp where theres the defense and assualt i was in the assult team our objectives, Storm the camp and take out the enemy (of course) i was heavy gunner medic so stayed behind a hill using covering fire while my comrades rushed the base. I kept getting killed by a sniper, i was bent on wasting this guy, i finally got him by sneaking up behind him and plastering 50 rounds into him. thats 50 cal bullets baby! Then i notice his AA name was called "Silent hunter 3" :-)

He left the server before i could ask him whether he roams the subsim forums.

I used to play it maybe a year ago. I really liked it! The teamwork is great on that game! If you solo, you usually end up dead.

I play it, haven't been on it for a while as my desktop computer is dead.
At least I can still play SH3 on the laptop.

Normally roam the Australasian servers, or occasionally a low ping honour server.

Used to, but lag and ping are so bad ( no eu server ) that i refreign to play anymore.

I played since 1.7 but stopped somewhere around 2.2 as I didn't like the way they were going with the game, seemed they just made it worse with every patch after 1.9. But I've been giving it a try again since 2.5 and I think I quite like what I am seeing again!
I even played this in a clan using TS which was great fun as well, it's very good for clan players as it is a great game for teamplay!

I play ALL the time. I have been a player for 3 years or so now (v 1.5 or so). Im know as [ODM] Mr Winkie.

Lagg is an issue now with the new 2.5, but the Devs are working on a server side patch that should be out soon. And there are workarounds for server admins that are being used now.

I would suggest NOT playing on Army Offical servers, or any other server other than AASA labeled offical servers. The cheaters are HORRIBLE in any other servers.

AASA has cheat filters and active admin/police that boot/ban cheaters in a heartbeat. The cheaters HATE AASA and you will frequently find them complaining. And I have perused more than one cheater forum that says "Stay away from AASA servers or you will get busted".

Yeah i find playing on aussie servers are the best for me.

Aussie servers ive found since the 2.5 update: and which give me ping under 90. (im using 56k so low ping is important) i always know when im killed by a broadband user he gets me even before i pull the trigger. :-)

played AA yesterday, i said i did be on for an hr, that hr ended up been 9hrs. Saw a guy called FUBAR, who was on the opposite team in the Hostpial Map. That name is familar.

That hospital map is very good for gaining honor.

Anyways i shall look out for you all.... might even heal you.

I used to play it alot until the cheaters drove me from the game at about version 1.7. It had lost its luster. It would be nice if a server could be set up by individuals for friends to play on.

Never played it, to unrealistic imho. I prefer the Unreal Tournament Mod 'Infiltration' above anything else, no stupid crosshair, bunnyhopping shotgun whores, no bullet 'cone fire' spraid etc etc.
