Hi all...New to the forum and new to SH..SHIII is my first SH try ;) My only previous sub game was 688I from Janes...Man, I miss that game

(Side bar - Any one know of a modern nuke sub game that comes close or better than 688I did? I hear Sub Commander was good, but never did pick that up. Anything newer?)

Ok, now for my question. I checked the wiki, I've searched the board, but haven't found the info I'm looking for regarding Damage Control Teams.

I found myself getting nailed by a J Class and before I could crash dive, she hurt me bad. Diesel and Command rooms both started flooding. I quickly filled my DCT to max and clicked on the room in the DCT box to start repairs. They never did anything at all. No wrench icon started moving, no repair clock to race the flood clock, nothing. Water was shallow enough that I slamed into the ground. Ended up with a bit more damage, but only minor. Still, I could do nothing with either of the flooding areas. when I tried to move the guys that were in the flooding areas out, they wouldn't move. I couldn't move them into any compartment fore or aft. I've read where you want to leave them in there to help the DCT, but at this point, I knew there was no hope. The guys that wouldn't move were in the command room.

Did I run into a bug when I couldn't move the guys out? Would it have to do with, like the bridge, you can NOT have it unmaned? More importaintly, why wouldn't the DTC start to repair? When I have sent a DCT to a comparment before, I always saw a little wrench icon moving up and down, why did that not happen this time?

If anyone has the answer, or can point me to a link that I missed in my search, that would be great. Once I've learned all I can, I'll even hop over to the Wiki and add a page just for that ;)

BTW, love the "Captains Log" stories.

There are several threads about this sort of thing, so you may want to look at some of those for more detailed info, but the primary culprit usually turns out to be a failure on the part of the player to cancel a previous "silent running" command - the DCT will not make any repairs while the boat is rigged for silent running, so you need to make sure to turn off silent running if you want to make repairs

Thanks for the quick reply. Forgot to mention in my main post that I was not in silent running mode ;) And if you know which threads, I'll run there and look :) As I said, I've searched, but haven't had any lucking finding any detailed information. I've found where people talk about the team, "I put them here and they fixed it", about the icons, and about the yellow/orange/red colored rooms, but no detailed information.

I'm not sure how or if you can search these forums, but you might try searching for threads over at the Ubi SH3 forums - when I searched for "repair" I found lots of threads, some of which may be helpful (see link below for search results):

Good luck and good hunting!

Thanks! That helped :) I guess it looks like there might actually be a small problem, but not enough people reporting the same thing to qualify it as one as of yet. Too sketchy...Some of those could still be the "Silent Running" bug lol Ok, will just have to wait and see what happens the next time I get hurt ;) At least I know I did it right
