I'm doing my first mission with WaW level of realism. I just got stopped by my watch, they told me I have a merchant somewhere around here. But I cant find it! They didnt gimmie a freaking bearing! Is the little green line on the attack map the general direction of the nme?

A gentle reminder: your hydrophone is an extremely useful tool. Not only can you detect the targets at longer range than visual range, and get their bearing, you can also hear the difference between merchant screws and warship screws very easily. For that matter, you can hear torpedo screws, explosions and hull breaking noises, although you can hear much of the latter from the command room, and strangely enough, it sounds better in the command room.

I just started using No Map Contacts as well and am finding it tough. I got so used to just being able to look at the map for the exact location of ships at all times!
Is the sonar man capable of identifying ships for me on his own or should I be doing it? Sometimes I've hopped on the hydrophone and am hearing ships loud and clear and he says there are no sound contacts.
