Hi everyone.

As topic says I am new so please bare with me :)

I have been searching and reading for days in the forum now trying to learn about mods and other things, but I am confused to put it mildly.

Where to start?....

I noticed that the flotillas are wrong on several things in SH3. Start location, sub type used and so on...How to fix?

Read about problem late in war that the snorkel is an aircraft magnet and that you dont have radar detection on it. Any way to fix this? If so where do I find it and what to download?

Im sure that I forget a lot of things after all this time reading god knows how many threads :)

This is what I have done so far...

Changed the fatigue rate some.

Fixed range on the IXD2, it had half the range it should have. Used the Crush Depth program by Timetraveller. Wich leads me to another question about his program. The sim only have type VIIC, but there are tick boxes for the 41 and 42. What are those for?

Tweaked the periscope and snorkel depth of subs a bit so the tower dont show.

I understand there is something called Rub. From what I have read its aimed at making the sim more real and as such much harder. As I am rather new to this I really dont think its for me yet.

Hope someone can answer the questions and give me some advice on what to get, and where to get it.

Edit: Also wondering if there is a fix for the very slow battery recharge time on type XXI.

Thank you!

JT

I fear you're trying to re-invent the wheel here. Most of what you're looking for has been done already.

Beery made a Flotilla realism mod some time ago. It fixes the flotilla locations and start dates and is incorporated into both RUB and SHIII Commander, but can also be gotten separately.

Also, RUB is indeed a realism mod, but that doesn't mean it's a lot harder; in fact, some of it's features are actually easier than the stock game. Destroyers and aircraft both behave much more realistically. It also incorporates a version of Rubini's Harbor Life Mod, which adds a lot of ships and planes to friendly ports.

SHIII Commander now lets you switch between different fatigue mods, as well as creating your own.

Thanks a lot for the info. I will search some more and see if I can figure out where to get what.

Anyone know if there is a fix for battery recharge on the XXI? Rather boring to wait like 12hrs for them to recharge from around 50% when the real thing did it in like 4-5hrs.
