add extra compartments that link to the 'text' hyperlinks within the interior of the U-boats? For instance, an 'engine room' or a 'bunk room' for the crew and the 'fore/aft torp rooms'? Would be awesome to be able to fully explore the interior of a U-boat and not just the stock rooms that the DEV team gave us. The control tower room kinda sucks IMHO. Nothing in it seems to work. For instance, what the hell is the point of having the Attack scope view if we can not revert right back to that view after utilizing the scope? Same goes for the Observation scope! The player has to move his/her mouse all the way over to the left side of the screen and click on the 'Hat' icon to go back to the control room and climb his/her way back up to the control tower to use the friggin Attack scope again. Of course there are short cut keys that one could press but that kinda takes the fun out of the sim as well as killing the total immersion feeling. Seems like we as the 'captains' of our U-boats have some sort of Star Trek thing going on and can just 'beam' ourselves to any part of the boat that we wish. I don't care that there isn't a 'walking/climbing' animation sequence but I do wish that all the links in the game were connected in some regard that would require us 'the players' to have to click our way to where we wanted to go within the U-boat. This clicking effort would simulate walking/climbing.

Also, why do/does my scope(s) remain towards the deck when I clearly have them raised up? Surely the COs of real U-boats did not lay down on their bellies to look through the scope lens. Even Aces of the Deep had an animation that showed the scope going up/down from what I recall. So why not this one?

All these mods that have come out are great, but could we not shift the focus from adding more and more 'elements' to the game such as ships/planes/dolphins/naked nurses on the pier, to more interior U-boat stuff. I'm not talking little pin-up pictures either, I'm taling about a good mod team pulling together ALL their resources or creating some new ones and going all out for this game. Just one superior mod that brings new meaning to what U-boating is all about!

It's too bad that the creators of Myst.
Rand and Robyn Miller did'nt have a hand in this game.
We would have some really fine U-Boats.
Drawers and cabinets would open up.
A torpedo room where you could actually load the fish yourself
and periscopes that work like they should.
I do'nt know where it all went wrong with Ubi Software.
was it lack of funds, lack of time or just people with no imagination.

That's a bit harsh SeaToad! I think they did an EXCELLENT job making this game. I do wish that they would have put a bit more development into the game than they did. I don't think the DEV team had a lack of imagination but more likely a lack of funding to add more onto the game than they were able to get done. I do admit that I was a bit dissapointed when they took an extra few months to add on to the game before its release and told us all that it would have so many things such as, milkcows, but alas it shipped without them. However, they did make an EXCELLENT random campaign and that was the main goal for the extra few months. The milkcows and other things weren't to be unfortunately, although the MOD teams have done some EXCELLENT things with this game considering their limited resources (meaning no SDK). If somehow the community could get a copy of the SDK from UBI then we would have even better MODs I'm sure and wouldn't require any further assistance from the DEV team or UBI. Remember, some of the folks in this community are software developers themselves and just as skilled, if not even more so than the DEV team that put the stock version of SHIII together. In conclusion, don't be a hater SeaToad, and learn to just go with the flow here and learn to be a bit more respectful and start THINKING of ideas that might help to enhance OUR enjoyment of this fine sim.

SubSerpent,

Your post here shows that you have some great PR skills.
So howabout if you quit your present job, hop on a plane
tomorrow morning and go to UBISOFT to obtain a copy of the SDK.
If you succeed, you become the hero of this community.
Who knows, UBISOFT might hire you as their no.1 PR Man.
Let us know how it works out.

Come on guys, SHIII is a great game! Yes, there´s lot of things that should be there. But if UBI had done everything right and realistic and all. There would be no SHIV, because there wouldn´t be anything new to add to the game.
