Indeed, the SH3 community kicks serious ass, especially the modders

I joined subsim way back with SH2, and ended up spending more time here at Subsim than playing the game! Now, I have hardly had the chance to play SH3, and feel very envious of those of you who do! Someone asked me not thirty minutes ago if I still visit Subsim, and I replied YES. When asked why, I replied, "For the community!" I may not be a modder, or a power player, or even a sailor, but when I'm here, I feel happy.

Thanks, people. You rock.

I also joined after I bought SHII. As much as I love to hang out here, you know what they say:http://www.channel4.com/culture/media/T/tptt/tptt_main3.jpg
This is such a great community and full of a really unique bunch of dedicated simmers.
I should post more whether it's a question, some thoughts about the game tactics, or a replay of my latest escape from death beneath the sea.
As it is I don't stay long enough to post anything before "initializing." Just browsing the forums here get me too excited about SHIII. Then I'm back, hanging out w/ the watch crew on the conning tower scanning the horizon for smoke.

Yeah, I couldn't agree more. Been here since SHII.
This is the only community I've experienced that doesn't act like a bunch of 13 year olds with attitude problems.
The dedication and skill level of the modders is unreal.
Still hard to believe sometimes. I find myself popping in here 3-4 times a day.
Hats off to Neal who put this whole thing together.

I agree, most gaming communities act totally childish, but if you ask a question here, youll get a real answer fast.

I pop in here a few times a day to look at things, at mods and well..

I just have to add a "me too". I lurked here for years before finally deciding to post & contribute. This was because most other gaming forums seemed to attract extremely antisocial people - sad, considering that everyone had a common interest. One one forum the first response to a member's newly-released skin pack was simply a four-letter-word :nope: . Eventually, however, I relented because of how different the tone was at Subsim. It's great to be able to release a mod without people randomly cussing you out or nitpicking. The moderators and commenters here do a fantastic job of policing the forums - not to mention their own comments.
