How very neutral of you!

I hate these filthy neutrals! With enemies you know where they stand but with neutrals? Who knows! It sickens me.

What makes a man turn neutral ... Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?

Swedish coastal merchant
Reason of attacking: Sweden always beats our team in hockey (Finland). :)

2 USA ships
Reason of attacking: 2 ships less to sink when they join the war.

Oh and they sailed with lights turned off, Hitler´s orders to sink them. :yep:

My last 3 patrols were just plain bad luck, all three patrols were almost constant storm from start to end.

On my last patrol, yet again I was returning to base empty handed. I decided to go visit the port of Portland to see, if I could find some easy targets there.

It was easy to get in, no destroyers guarding the port. I managed to get myself to a perfect position to attack a anchored merchant. Fired two eels, just to make sure it was a quick kill. Little did I know, there was a subnet in front of the merchant, my eels exploded on it.

I raised the periscope and scan the area, no threats. I surfaced the boat. I was ~1500m away from the merchant. I ordered the deck gun to be manned and target the merchant, fire at will.

We managed to score couple of hits, just under the waterline. No signs of sinking, just a minor fire broke loose on the merchant.

As the merchant was so far away, I didnt notice, that it had a gun mounted on it´s stern. It started blasting me with it, no luck.

We exchanged rounds for a ~7-10min, when I got hit in the conning tower. Fire broke loose, I dived to exhaust the flames.

I surfaced again and though that I must get to a better position to fire an eel to the merchant. As it was night, I didnt notice there was coastal guns on the shores, ofcourse, until it was too late.

U-186 got an direct hit to the conning tower, killing my watch officer, Karl Clausen instantly. As I tried to dive, my boat got hit in the bow compartments; all but 2 crew members died in the bow quarters.

The boat flooded heavily, damage control team was put to work. It was no use. After a couple of seconds, coastal gun landed a another direct hit to my bow, killing anyone in the bow torpedoroom and control room. We sank like a rock to the bottom, and it took just a ~5 seconds and the boat was flooded. All hands lost, another statistic on BdU´s papers.
