View Full Version : Horizon Tilted - anybody seen this and have a fix?

I've been experimenting the last couple of nights with the U-boat War Ace (Wolfpack) mod and the various Sergbuto mods it requires to make it work. It's too early to tell much about that new mod yet (only real thing I noticed so far was a couple of ships sinking in my home port and the hydrophone contact lines on my map are so precise they make it too easy to plot perfect attack runs in dense fog).

BUT, the weird thing was that after surfacing from that attack and speeding off for a while, the weather changed and I could see the horizon, and it is really tilted - higher on the right side of my screen than on the left side, and by quite a bit. I thought at first my ship might have been damaged and be listing to starboard or something, but no damage was indicated and, even weirder, the horizon is tilted the same direction and amount as I rotate and look all around the compass - see the picture below for screen shot (note horizon tilt along very top edge of the picture):

Anybody ever seen this before?? I'm hoping it will go away when I reload the game, as it's very disconcerting to look at it like this - I found myself leaning a lot trying to compensate - very uncomfortable

that seems more like a camera angle than anything else.. since ur sub also seems a little titled.

I don't know...I have never sen this before though.

Well, this tilt effect did go away after I reloaded the game ( :D )

HOWEVER, I noted something else interesting. These new Walruses in this mod must be thick as flies - when I loaded back into my saved game I was submerged in the eastern approaches to the Channel (and had been since just before dawn), so I popped up to the surface just to check the horizon for tilt (after scanning the area with my observation scope to make sure things were clear). I popped up to the bridge, confirmed that the horizon tilt was in fact gone, and then dove again immediately. On my way down, I was bombed by a Walrus! I had been on the surface less than a minute - amazing that he could have spotted me and gotten off a bombing run so quickly! Fortunately, he was a bad shot and missed me, though I was gonna go back to my previous saved game anyway - I play DID but I don't count troubleshooting tests for stuff like this and I would never have surfaced there at 9 in the morning to be spotted by planes if it weren't for that wierd horizon tilting thing anyway.

Ive seen this myself since I started using the modified camera files.
It is highly annoying to say the least. Not very often but it does happen sometimes.

You can also "ALT+TAB" a couple of times... minimizing SH3 and re-expanding it... Often just doing that will re-set the camera.

It's been an issue since before the new camera mods. "ie: the bouncing camera"

I also get a partial "sound loss" issue with cameras that goes away when I pop back into the control room for a moment. It usually only affects one layer of sound.

This occasional tilt has been a bug since the game shipped.

Weird - been playing SH3 since it came out and this was the first time I'd run into it - guess I've just been lucky - at least now I'll know what to do to fix it if I see it again. Thanks folks.

Actually it's very rare, so it's not unusual to go months without seeing it. I've only seen it happen twice in the 5 months I've been playing.

I had this tilt once since the game came out.
