ok so im leaving port at about 9knts and my leet watch crew is on deck... every other time I go into or out of port I sink!!!! WHY, no boat near me, no enemy aircraft in the sky! I just get flooding real bad and then I sink! WHY?????

Check the documentation for minefields and subnets... :)

Unfortunately, the map doesn't seem to be capable of displaying mines. I know someone was working on attaching mine mini-maps to the full maps, but I don't know what came of it.

so your telling me that i have to turn on outside views and take a rep. hit. Only to have to track my course underwater untill i get out into the high seas!!!!! There must be a better way or perhaps someone could point out where they are laid. This incompetence would never be tollerated, the loss of a U-boat in a friendly harbor because some fool failed to tell ship and sub captians about mines recently laid. :damn:

I wonder if these mines are supposed to represent friendly minefields or if they are instead supposed to be enemy mines?
Either way, I believe that there is supposed to be a friendly destroyer or other such ship to escort you out of and into the harbor, presumably through lanes either left in friendly minefields or swept in enemy minefields. I've never hit a mine while following one of these escorts, but I have noticed that on my last 2-3 patrols the escort supposed to lead me out of Kiel has run aground early on and I've had to just take my chances getting out. Fortunately, no mines struck so far :)
I think most mods that add mines also have a alternate file to remove them. Look through the readmes and see if its there.
There are maps of the minefields in the SilentHunterIII folder for you to print out or access on screen.

after looking at the maps... i notice that every time i left... a minefield i hit :hmm:
If you forget to look at the maps before a mission, just save your game, then hold Ctrl and hit Esc and you can get to the desktop without exiting the game. Then look up the map and click on the game and you're back in the sim.

So your using a mod lol welcome to reality. Im sure alot of these mods were made to keep us alert while on patrol, not read warstories until a watchcrew spots somethin.
Well if u cannot be bothered trying to avoid mines, in the mod theres a file you can replace, so u get no mines its mentioned in the readme.

Not anymore. That was when we were using Rubini's mines and nets. There is no alternative to the Ops mod mines.

The only map in my SHIII folder is the campaign map. Any further clarifying information would be great.
BTW: Just got Silent Hunter III and it is already disrupting my sleep patterns. :up:

After you have unpacked IUB there are three directories inside "Improved U-Boatv1". The maps are in documentation\friendlyminefieldmaps. If you have installed IUB with the mod enabler you should find them in sh3\documentation\friendlyminefieldmaps.
