Hi guys, whilst playing the happy times single mission last night, I had moderate success and was tailing the convoy at night fall, came in from behind and out at about 45 degrees then parralell to the convoys course to get ahead of them.

anyway, I was spotted amd soon they opened up on me, well next thing I see is a bright orange flash on my forward deck, followed soon after by another. Well the damage was to my diesel engines , I dived and put a repair crew on it and got it fixed pretty quickly.

Thing is in real life wouldnt there be a bleedin great hole in the hull ? and that would have meant diving would have been suicide.

Your thoughts gentlemen. :arrgh!:

yes IMO shell hits do not create nearly as much damage as they should.... no more daytime surface attacks on armed merchants lol...

The damage should not necessarily be made lethal, only so if you dive. I'm not sure if the game's structure is advanced enough to handle this though... we need to ask a modder

BTW, how do I raise or lower the elevation of the gun quickly ?

CCIP worked on making gun hits on the U-boat more damaging. I think he had some success, but basically, I think there's no real way to make a shell prevent the boat from diving safely unless it outright sinks it.

Hold shift (shift also works in other tasks such as speeding outside camera view movement)

The hull strength might be used to semi-simulate this. For instance, if the hull strength of the U-boat was at 1%, how deep can you dive? What about 10%, etc.?

It seems that inthe game now, my hull is always at 70-99% when damaged. Unless you're killed outright, the hull is not at the lower percentages of strength very often. One could increase that likelihood and, perhaps, get some measure of diving restriction.

the sub have double hull in some parts

if the shell hit the sub ,could depends of the damage done and where explode.

could be ...punctured ballast tanks,or broken lines..., or if it penetrate enough could damage the pressure hull making dangerous dive the boat.
