Hi all....I am new to this game .....however I have noticed that the last few missions I have played...I cannot get the torpedoe tubes reloaded....I click on the tube and get the response from the weapons officer that the tube is being loaded...but nothing ever happens......and I have torpedoes on board....what gives????

Hi! It could be that the torpedo room isn“t manned or that you are running silent.

Is there enough crew in the torpedo room and are they not too fatigued? If you check on the crew screen (F7) you can see who's where and how tired they are. I think torpedo loading will not commence if the bar for the torpedo room is under 25%

Also, if you're rigged for silent running, torpedo's will not be loaded.

Hmmm......I know that they couldnt be too tired as it was the start of a mission....unless they are a real lazy bunch!!!! It could be that I was rigged for silent running though....I did not think about that.....I will check into that.....thanx for the input......

Slick Rick don't forget, even if the crew is not fatiqued, there has to be enough crew in the Torpedo room(s) for them to load the tubes, otherwise it will take forever or not at all. -Nightowl

And remember too, if you are RUNNING SILENT... Nothing will happen!

And if your crew is wiped out (fatigued) nothing much will happen either...

AND IF YOUR TUBES ARE OPEN... Nothing will happen!

I've had something of a similar problem.
When I sent a status rep it said I had 2 torps left but the tube select buttons were white, torp room full of guys (3 torp men there) and not rigged for silent.
Guess what? nothing happens. With all tubes showing empty I just ended the patrol
and no-one said anything even got an iron cross, but it was a bummer in middle of a convoy, report says 2 torps left, but nothing happening. lol

your external reserves remained in their lockers.

next time, crew the torpedo room, surface, and you will see two external torpedoes on the torpedo loadout screen (which you access through the weapons officer) click and drag the two torpedoes down into the onboard lockers - not the tubes mind you - but the spare torpedoes location, the men should begin moving them aboard at this point.

takes about 40 minutes to an hour in game to complete the process.

If I reload a saved game being submerged und already running silent it generally happens that it visually looks like i dont run silence (which could explain why u dont see the reason why the eals wont reload) and the watchcrew is on deck. Ordering scopedepth and going silent and back to std makes sure the game is synchronized again.

never... ever... save submerged.

the game begins to do funny things.

also general rules i tend to follow... never save within 50km of a sunken ship, or any known ship, or any known aircraft, or any port, or any shore line.

It happened to me too. I couldn't reload the second stern tube on IXB (tube 6). The torpedo simply wouldn't sit on the slot. Then I turned auto reloading on (I keep it off), and the reloading started. I stopped it and tried manually, but again it didn't work.

After firing tube 5, I was able to load it there. :hmm:

Okay, I have a similar problem.

I fired two torps. I have many internal reserves. Can't get them to reload. It just says Torpedo Waiting In Queue.

I am not in silent running

I have a full rested crew in the compartment

The WE officer is on duty

What gives???

As an experiment try going into silent running (Z) and then come out.

There is a save/reload bug where you save while in silent running but when you reload the game does not show you that you are still in silent running mode.

Thanks Torplex, I got it now. I did have a full compliment in there, but I had silent running on, I then removed silent running, but by the time I did that, I had less than what it seems to require to load torpedoes.

What's interesting is that on my voyage to Argentina, I had no crew fatigue, but as I was half way back to port, all my crew started to fatigue out so that I couldn't even run my engines continuously. Some would recover after a few minutes in quarters, then some would not after days. It became so frustrating, I just returned to base and started over.

I hate having to tell my crew when they are tired and need moving - tis what my officers are for to rotate watches - so I use SH3commander with no fatigue

Yes, I do also use Commander with the no fatigue model checked off. But still, I have this problem. I also have the Begin Mission at Sea option checked, and still my missions start in port.

Also remember to staff the appropriate compartment! I just started creating a new thread here after being unable to load the aft reserve eel on my VIIB, and began listing the things I tried. Torp compartment staffed? Check! Oh wait... WRONG ONE. :rotfl2:

when accidently unchecking the "automatically... " in the shown dialog box, nothing will be reloaded in the next 100 years or so

Glad I did too - else I'd have started yet another &%$# thread on the subject!

Oh, bringing up an old thread doesn't really bother, it's the answering of a year-old post as if it were made yesterday that gives such a shock, especially when the guy who made it hasn't been around in almost that whole year. :sunny:

To be honest, I only read the date of the post above me. But I read the whole thread. Really trying hard to solve the serious problem :haha:

But, to bring this to an end now, I guess everything is said here to solve all the future problems where torps not reloading are concerned, right ? :O:

:DL Sometimes I'll start reading one of these and start thinking about what I want to post, only to find I already posted there, long long ago. :damn: :dead::rotfl2:

So what did you find? I always keep 'Auto-Reload' turned off, because in real life they didn't reload during an attack, due to the possibility of a torpedo breaking loose because of a steep dive angle. They would fire all the ones they were going to, then reload when they were sure they had eluded the escorts.

Osmium Steele

If I turn auto-reload off, can I then choose which of my reloads goes in which tube next?

Since I've recently started carrying a mix of t1s and t2s loaded, I'd really like to reload with the same types.

I'll be darned if I get caught again at 7000 meters CPA from 2 battleships with no t1s loaded. :damn:

That is absolutely correct, Sir. I was only to say that it could be a reason for not reloading and not finding any reason for that behaviour.

@ OsmiumSteele

Hold any torp with the mouse and you can change the order of being loaded next.

Not only can you choose, but you must choose which torpedo to place in which tube.
(Use the mouse to drag your chosen torpedo to it's desired destination.)

With Auto Reload Off, and your RPMs below 100, you don't even have to set Silent Running.
Thus, although they will negate Silent Speed while working, the Damage Control Party is available at all times.
