Portsmouth harbour

I just played the single mission of Bismark and decided to try and intercept the carrier (didn't find it) as I got close to Portsmouth I decided to have a look inside and wreak havok in there plotted a coarse to get inside my depth started at pd but as I entered the base my hull was scrapeing the seabed so I surfaced and ran on the surface and my hull was still scrapeing the bottom.and then got killed by what I don't know.
So my question is how can you enter the harbour?can't be done submerged or on the surface and how did them T2s and C3s enter?
unless it's different in the campaign.
Has anyone ever entered Portsmouth harbour and survived?

It´s about 125km SSE from your position, going NNE at 18 knots. I´ve never tried to reach it, I think it´s impossible - or at least very difficult.
