Hi, I've got a dumb question about the hi-res mod. I installed it when I bought my Samsung 930B LCD a couple weeks ago because at 1024x768 the display looks "squashed" vertically - i.e. the periscope view is oval instead of round :(
I set the mod to run at the panel's native res (1280x1024) and it looks perfect...
Problem is, the mod docs say you can task-switch back to desktop, but this don't work for me! If I alt-tab, I'm back to desktop but the SH3 screen is overlaid on it, covering everything. Moving the mouse over an icon causes the icon to briefly appear but then it disappears as soon as the SH3 screen refreshes. So I can't access anything on the desktop :(
Anybody else have that problem or know how to fix it? Really need to task-switch, it takes so freakin' long to load SH3 that I leave it running all the time, and just pause the game and switch back to desktop when I want to do something else.
System specs:
Dell 8250, 3.06ghz P4 w/HT
1gb rdram
Radeon 9800XT, 256mb, driver version 6.14.10.6512
DirectX 9.0c
[edit] - almost forgot!
Windows XP Home, SP1
Mod file - dx9res10.zip
TIA for any help!

two things:
1. You can use the control panel/display/settings advanced to set your display, thereafter your monitor's Horizontal and Vertical 'stretch' will do the rest!
2. Make sure your monitor is capable of the higher refresh rates necessry with higher resolution modes.

Thanks, I went and messed with the display settings and it looks great now!
Not sure what fixed it, but I went to:
Display Properties/Settings/Advanced/Monitor
and changed refresh from 60 to 70, also went to:
Display Properties/Settings/Advanced/Displays/FPD
and unchecked "Scale image to panel size" under Panel Attributes. When I fired up the game, the attack scope looked fine :) Just to be sure I took a screen grab and cut out just the view thru scope, the width/height came out nice & square to within a few pixels :)
Thanks man, I don't feel like I'm looking thru an egg anymore

All of these links take you no where.
I set res to 1680x1050. Seems to work properly. By the way, thanks for some info mates:yep:

I've been looking for hours and can't find out how to change my res to something higher. I've tried editing the Main.cfg but no dice.
And all those links from 2005 are well and truly dead

Hi folks,
Coincidently, I've been trying to increase the res and using the sim in its own window.
I've used the res fix, altering the res to 1680 x 1050 in the d3d9 file, but despite this, the res sticks at 1024 x 768.
I've put all the res fix stuff in the SH3 folder before running the res fix, but no dice.
Also, I tried changing the res in the main.cfg file but vista doesn't seem to want let me when I make the edit using Notepad.
What have I missed?
Any ideas anyone?
