Pff all these young people with there fancy electric nonsense or 'patern running' sheisse, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! :stare:

Seriously, I like gas powered TI's more then the electric ones:

1. TI's are >FAST<, the enemy has practically no change of evading
unless you are stupid enough to take on a DD.
2. And at night the enemy is toasted because they can't see the
trails.
3. They are reliable, TI's almost never fail me unlike the TII's with
there premature detonations. :nope:
4. TI's are much better for manual 'pop shots' (storms) because of
there speed.
5. The trails are very usefull to see if you TDC'ed right and perhaps
need to adjust and shoot again quickly
6. Trails look nice.
7. Trails are cool.

 pop over here for Avon lady's excellent "damn the type II torpedos" mod..

i have to say i agree mainly because it's frustrating to get within 2000 metres and still have to shoot the torps at slow speed settings....the type I's give you more options from ultra long range v slow spreads to quick short range hit and runs..much more immersive regardless of anything else!!

T1's are ok they have too many duds..I like TII's more

and yes I have taken on a DD out with a T1..then I paused the game to celebrate for like 5 mins

In my VIIB, I use T1's in the front and T2's in the rear. Has worked
very well during 1939 and 1940. I won't speculate on the future
because I have not experienced it yet. But if drastic changes are
required, I will evaluate my loadout at that time.....

TIII's are also cool

I keep one T2 loaded in tube 4 for destroyer head-ons... they see the trail of T1s and evade. Otherwise I agree that T1s are cool, and I like the trails too... especially the thought that the enemy see their doom coming :>

T3s are almost the only thing i use. No trail and 5km distance.

All the new ones i could never figure out, they always end up missing or coming back to hit me.

Yup, count me in as a T1 user.

I prefer the gas over electric.

That extra 14 kts makes all the difference. TI's are the only thing I ever use! That said, I haven't tried the later torpedoes yet...

Must have been a reason the real u-bootwaffen moved to electrics. :hmm:

I like gas too......except "....when Frensen farts" ;)

I also use TIs in the bow tubes and TII/IIIs in the stern tubes. The TIIs make good speed bumps for and DDs stupid enough to follow you :)

I'm another T-1 fan. There's just something about those white bubbles racing towards a doomed C-2... :arrgh!:

From what I can tell, the TIIs are unreliable in the game. I guess that's intentional.

I use TIs until TIIIs are available, then switch over wholesale.

I use all electrics starting in the begining of 1942 because its getting tough to get inside convoys. I'm patient, I don't really care if it takes a long time for the torp to get to target, I'd much rather have time to get the hell away from the fireworks before the DDs get pissed.

Here's to Happy Trails and Tiny Bubbles! (and old coots like me--HA~!)

But seriously folks the TII's are not so bad. (cringe) If you consider the historical context; these torpedos did in fact have problems keeping depth properly and that seems to be modelled fairly well in this game. Having said that, I agree with the general consensus that the darn things can give you fits, BUT, I will always load-out a couple of TII's in my forward tubes and sometimes one for the stern because periodically I've run across lone warships (probably looking for me!) and when one of those bad boys crosses my path in close proximty, I won't crash-dive--- heck no--- go periscope depth, go like hell at flank speed and line-up that sweet shot.... then it's kaboom, kaboom! Enemy unit destroyed Sir! An honest 60% success rate... anybody else?

Cheers, and Happy Hunting!

I try to go exclusively TIII as soon as possible.

I've found that its difficult to target ships in the middle of the convoy with the T1's. (the juicey targets) Typically that coastal merchant you're trying to shot around detects the wakes and the entire convoy turns enough that my torps miss.

It seems like the T1 carries a bigger warhead than the T2.....can take out a C2 with two T1 while it takes almost 3 with T2's. Also they are so damn inreliable...

Can't count the times I screemed because they wen't off to early.....

But if you are going for Juciy targets inside the middle of a Convoy....Then the advantage for using T2 equals out its flaws more or less....

is there a comparison chart online somewhere?

I'm still learning the game... and need visual charts.

It's easy to get that target in the middle of the convoy with T1s...

You just have to get your uboat in the middle of the convoy first!! ;)

Like many others, I use T1s early, TIIIs late, thus avoiding the TII problems.
