View Full Version : What is the longest time you`ve sailed in a storm?
I decided to make this thread, because I`m on my 8th patrol and it`s been storming for ten days!! When will it stop!?
What`s yours longest period in storm?
2 weeks. Down to the East coast of Africa and back in the world's largest storm, new special coming up : "When storms attack" :rotfl:

Game time, probably a week or so. I have seen it get better, then worse again.

I sailed for 3 weeks in a storm shadowing a convoy from halifax almost all the way to england. Eventually I gave up because I was almost out of fuel from running in that crap weather. I don't attack when I can't see, so I was pretty angry at missing the oppertunity to hit that convoy.
the weather in this game is pretty lame as far as how its implemented...
The rain and wind can last for weeks, it is not fun day after day. Is there a mod for the weather? Someting that cycled rain and clear days with some what more realistic weather changes. <Wrratt
Ah, finally. After ten days of storm, it calmed to 0m/s winds! YAY!!!! :)

Sometimes, if you use a lot of TC, you might actually miss the breaks in the weather, and get an apparently longer storm than ususal.
Also, if you save and reload a mission, I believe that the "storm clock" gets reset, so that stormy weather gets precedence over other weather -- I think.
My longest storm was about two and a half weeks. I had a day of clear weather and no contacts, and then back into the pea soup for the remainder of the patrol.
Good thing I live in Vancouver, and I am used to the rain, otherwise, I'd get pretty depressed...

2 weeks once when crossing the Atlantic... missed out on lots of ships :damn:
I play only with 64x TC, so I don`t miss the weather breaks.
And about the save game thing, when I loaded my 8th patrol after ten days of storm. The next morning it went totally calm. So atleast for me the storm "clock" didn`t reset.

2 days
About two weeks while transiting to the East Coast, late November, early December '41. Cleared up as I made my run into New York Harbor.

the longest storm i had was about 4 weeks. it was hardcore! maybe i missed 1-2 days of calm seas between the storm. wind 15, thick fog, and a never ending rain...
as i made the decision to cancel the patrol and get back to WH, the weather changed, just 100km before the coast... :nope:

Guys don't you think the real captains got frustrated with the weather? Rememer Das Boot (for the hundreth time) and that 3 week long storm they went through? Weather has been a frustration in many military operations...

sergbuto was right, the weather resets after every save so if
you save the game every 6 hours, the weather will probably
never change. The longer you go between saves, the more
chance the weather will change. The save doesn't mean to get out of the game completely, just go back to the main menu.
So the moral is: if you want a change in the weather, keep
the game running and don't save. If you like the weather you
have now, save every 6 hrs.....Works like a charm !!!
