View Full Version : Torpedo loadout overridden

Some nice top brass at BdU have obviously decided that I am not supposed to be sailing out with a full loadout of TI torps. I changed them all in port and then started mission.

Most of my torps had changed to TII's.

It's Jan 1942 and I am on a clean install after the first time it happened...so I don't know what's going on. I searched the forum to no avail, am I alone in this? Is it a glitch or is it meant to happen?

I've noticed this happens when you go to the equipment set-up screen, do the changes, then go out in the office, then go back in again to the equipment screen. But not always...

Sorry that's the best I can do. Anyone?

I think maybe it's related to dates: if you equip your boat, select torps etc, then go back out, you'll see the 'time-warp' on the calendar according to the changes you've made. If the date changes to another month, then maybe the torpedo load-out is reset?

Anyway, there is a great tool you can run before starting SH3. It enables you to preset the torpedo-loadout of any of the boats to whatever you like, and you don't even have to pay renown for the FaTs etc...

It's called 'Wolfie's TweekPak', and can be found by a search. I think it's in the downloads section here at SubSim as well.

Now that sounds good! :arrgh!:

Thanks Nopileo, that should do the trick I hopes.

It's Jan 1942
Here is the cause of your problem. SH3 uses default torpedo loads for each year. You prepare your torpedoes for your next patrol in December 1941. Then you start the mission and it is January 1942... SH3 will override your choices and use the default torpedo load for 1942. It's a game bug.

The only workaround I know is to skip time until the game calendar is at January 1. You can do this by switching flak guns in the loadout screen: they cost no renown and advance the calendar by a few days.

At all other dates it should work just fine if you follow Nopileo's suggestions.

I've also found that if I am rearranging my loadout, and drag, say a TI over a TII to switch spots, when the game loads they are back at their original positions. I have to manually switch the type of torpedo. On larger subs, this becomes an annoying clickfest.

You can modify the .cfg file and change the default loadouts.

ummm.... which cfg file? the Data/Cfg/Basic?

Yes, basic.cfg. But as Nopileo already wrote, there´s this wonderful "Wolfies Tweek Pak", you can use it to change the torpedo loadouts.

Thanks Gizzmoe... does anyone know if this issue is already taken care of by Rub 1.43?

RuB143 does not change the default torpedo loadouts as far as I know.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it does. Or is it SH3 Commander? I think I've read in one of the readme's something like 'changed torpedo loadouts to be more historically accurate' or similar...?

You are right!

050630: Added realistic torpedo loadouts mod. Mod by Anteater, configured for RUb by U29. (data\Cfg\Basic.cfg)

Thanks!

But regarding the 'loadout reset bug' that Kpt. Lehmann probably meant in the first place: I don't think that is fixed in RUb. That would probably need to be fixed in the main exe-file or something(?).

But the TweekPak should take care of this, as it loads the boats with the presets for each year.

Yeah, it looks great.

I highly recommend it.
