Just came back to Lorient after 26 and a half days (637 hours) at sea going all the way to EJ19 (just west of Africa, don't know the name of the islands there). If you have your map near you, you can see how far it is, perhaps farther than NY. It was an adventure getting down there as I passed a convoy that was heading away from me so I couldn't do much. When I got down there, the conditions just started to deteriorate (I'm a new Oblt. Zur See). When I got up to periscope depth, the waves got so low it was like being surface. While surfaced, the waves broke over the conning tower, preventing me from using my deck gone on lone Merchants and putting the watchouts at risk of being washed overboard. I submerged to prevent that (I don't want to find out if it CAN happen or not).

This might be a seasonal thing since I was gone late March - early April. The water was bad everywhere so I'm willing to give Africa another chance.

But for those of you patrolling near Africa in the winter, enjoy the sun :sunny: :arrgh!:

Lol..........I love it in bad weather (not dense fog) you line up a ship and "pow" a wave hits you and all your targeting goes down hill rapidly. SO you mutter some foreign language and line everything up again and "pow" another wave. SO again you try and line everything up, now you don't care you going to sink this ship or be sunk.... You fire the eels and crash dive..... and its all up to you...........

I'm on my 3rd patrol off the city of Halifax. Catching up with convoys coming out of that area.
