Hello all,
I am new to the SH community and sub genre, and I must say I have never had as much fun sending stuff to the bottom of the sea.
I have been using the manual targeting method that is described in the manual. I had great luck earlier in the game. The past week, all my torpedoes have been going RIGHT past the screws of all my ships. I have done this with trawlers, C2s, at various distances. I keep shooting just a hair short. Just to put it in perspective, the event camera looks like it will hit the props but it goes right by.
Can anyone help a fellow skipper with this setback?
Thanks,
Davion

If you haven't done so yet, check out Wazoo's manual targeting tutorial: http://www.paulwasserman.net/SHIII/
Good luck!

make sure you open the tube doors before firing. If you fire before opening, you get about a 3 second firing delay which will make your eels miss just aft if you were targeting midship

 Wow, I had no idea about opening the doors prior to the shot. Makes sense! Eye opener there
I am going to try that as soon as I get off work. Let's see... work, subsim forums...

btw "Q" is used to open tube doors...If you're making a salvo shot and have made all adjustments...i.e. select S on the T/S field, select your tube combo etc...hitting Q will open all doors selected for the salvo shot. The doors will close immediately after firing.
Glad to be of help....someone on this forum helped me with that tip way back when I was having the same issue of missing just aft.
You'll quickly find that this forum is filled with class act submariners.

Well,
I couldnt try it last night but I am eager to tonight.
Is it normal to redock and resupply during a patrol?

redocking is allowed but basically after docking at a port (which isn't your home dock) you will just be given free reign and you can go nuts but i just end up going back to home base, i only use other ports if i'm seriously damaged and close by.

Okay! Doors open and a C2 is safely stowed on the bottom of the sea East of GB. Thanks for the tip.
