Hey all,

Just bought the game and I love it...
I do have a question regarding crew management though. As I set out for my patrols, what controls the crews rest/work schedule. In other words, am I going to have to change out the watch crew every 6 hours so they can get rest???? Is it the same for the diesel workers as well?? Also, do the officers ever sleep or are they just going to loiter in the control room for eternity until i dismiss them.

If I DO have to manage the crew this way, can someone tell me any tips or advice for this? (e.g. 6 hour workloads, etc).

I really appreciate the help.

Rest/fatigue only works at certain speeds...at either 128 or 256 speed (and higher) fatigue stays at the same level (good or bad).

If you want to see fatigue and rest, go to the crew screen at 32 (the fastest it will go on that screen).

I find also that fatigued experienced and medaled crews will still perform better than amateurs, so tired crews sometimes are best to remain in place. They never seem to get more than half-fatigued (which I honestly think shouldn't be the case)

Does this help understand how the system works?

Ah, very surprising.

Thanks Stymnus for the reply. So what you're saying is that if I accelerate to my patrol grid at 128x speed or so than i'm not going to even have to worry about crew fatigue??
Very interesting but I can already see why the designers made it that way...makes alot of sense...

Set your crew the way you want it before you leave port, then as Stymnus says, use TC X128 or higher and forget about crew fatigue during the journey. The only thing you need check is the state of your crew during real time activities and before jumping back to X128 or higher

Yes, if run at 64x or higher time compression the crew will not loose (or gain) any fatigue.

In standard SH3 the crew will loose fatigue in all compartmens except for the quarters, where they will also recover from fatigue at 32x or lower time compression.

There are mods out there that will reduce fatigue or remove it altogether, and there are mods that makes it even harder to keep your crew working, like it was in real life.. :ping:

But an automatic crew rotation would be nice, but unfortunately this is not modelled. Well at least it gives you something to do on those long cruises with no action...

Guess I wasn't the only one to be unsure of the cutoff :)

I guess that's why the crew screen doesn't go any higher than 32x. Makes sense now.
