Hi all, this is my first post here but I've been hanging around for a it. Seems like a very intelligent and active group of people around this sim.
Anyway, here's my question. I'm in my first campaign (well the first one I took past the first few patrols) and have just transferred to the 2nd flotilla. (Haven't modded the flotilla dates so it just became available in late '40). I currently drive a reliable VIIB and am looking to trade it in for a shiny new IXC but it's not yet available. What I'd like to know is if I spend renown on the IXB now, do I still have to pay full 'price' for the IXC in a few months or do I just pay the difference.
To make that more clear, I believe the IXB cost 7500 and I also believe I saw somewhere that the IXC cost 9000. Assuming these numbers are accurate do I pay 7500 now and another 9000 later (total 16500), or 7500 now and the difference of 1500 later (total 9000).
Thanks in advance. I'm sure learning alot since I picked up this program. I've had an interest in the Pacific war for some time but haven't paid all that much attention to the war in the Atlantic until now. Interesting stuff. I even bought my third copy of Das Boot the other day. :D (VHS Director's -> DVD Director's -> DVD Uncut. That first DVD and it's multiple audio tracks was a real treat at the time, no more having to read the whole movie.)

edit: Bilge Rat? lol, nice....

You would have to spent 7500 on an IXB and then again 9000 on an IXC. I think IXC becomes availible in early 41, so dont buy IXB now, in late 1940. Also, if you buy IXC, be prepared to the very long and usualy bit boring patrols, all the way down to Capetown.

I will definitely wait then. Capetown, eh? Sounds thrilling..... Is the trafiic enroute fairly light at least, so I can TC most of the way there and back? Anyway, my plan at the moment is to switch to the IXC and further on go back to one of the later VII variants.
