The Kriegsmarine also experimented with rockets, a brainchild of U-boat captain Fritz Steinhoff and his brother, who worked at the Peenemünde rocket facility. Steinhoff's U-551 was fitted with a Schweres Wurfgerät 41 launcher capable of firing six 300mm Wurfköper 42 Spreng rockets, even at periscope depth. Despite some success, the program was not deemed practical enough and was soon canceled. The concept of a ballistic missile submarine was revitalized in 1943 when Dönitz wanted to use them for launching V-2 rockets. While three launchers were ordered, none were finished.

See that's the kind of thing that really would've made this game awesome. They should've either gone further into the "what if" boats and such, or totally perfected the simulation and not messed with the XXI so much. It's really cool being able to see what the war would've been like with the XXI (be even cooler if the thing worked), but it would've been frickin sweet to be able to play with all the toys that the Germans were coming up with.

It would be cool to try the XXI with the V2 rockets. You would park it near England, at PD and fire the rockets.

i know some of the fanatical 100%ers probably wouldnt like it but i would like one of missions based around things like that.

in month x at base y you get offered to test a experimental rocket weapon while on patrol.

I´m a fanatical 92% player, and I´d like really to play some of this secret weapons stuff. Kraut Hardware was damn interesting, so why don´t tinker with that in a game/sim ? Nothing of what we do, did happen really in WWII anyway, so why the hell don´t we do this secret trials, tests, missions etc ?

Germany's largest U-boat, the 1,700-ton Type XB minelayer U-234 found itself at sea when the war ended and surrendered in mid-ocean to an American destroyer escort. Her original destination had been Japan. Her cargo included two complete ME-262 jet fighters (disassembled in crates, but with complete technical data) and 550 kilograms of Uranium 235 (or Uranium oxide -- sources differ), packed in lead containers. No one has ever determined -- or at least revealed -- the reason the Germans were sending the uranium to Japan.
