Emblem Help please.

I'm in my seventh patrol out of Lorient and when I'm at port I can only get the 2nd Flotilla Emblem. The Sim will not let me have any of the tga type Emblems that are in the "SubEmblem" folder. :x

Can't figure this one out. :damn:

In other Careers I swear I could pick between a Flotilla Emblem or a "Sub Emblem" before the seventh patrol. :-?


Any one know whats happing here. :-?

First of all, read The Community Manual's emblems page (http://www.communitymanuals.com/shiii/index.php?title=U-boat_Emblems/Insignias).

Then try this:

Manually edit files Careers.cfg and Careers_0.cfg in folder \My Documents\SH3\data\cfg\Careers\yourPlayerName\. In both files, change the last occurence of line:

E01=NULL

to:

E01=data/emblems/subemblems/yourEmblemFile.tga

Try that and let us know if it works.

NOTE: This most probably will NOT take effect right away, if you're in mid-patrol in your career.

Maybe it is based on your renown?
If you've been spending it or not earning a lot of it during your current career, that could be it.

I think it is connected to renown.

Renown ?? I'd like to Speak in person to the dev that thought up that one. :stare:

As much as I like this Sim they ( Devs ) can take their renown and........................well they can. :hulk:

Yes I've spent some renown and have put a lot of stuff on my Sub and now I get punished for upgradeing my Sub and can't have anything but the lousy 2nd Flotilla Emblem?

I'm sure glad Uncle Sam did not charge the Captain of the EDD that I served on 1955 era. We would have had a row boat with patches in a months time. :D

I can just hear BdU in WWII at some port next to a sub being repaired.............."Sorry Capitan but you don't have enough renown for those batteries :roll: and no you can't paint that emblem on your conning tower either. You need another 20 patrols for enough renown for that. :shifty: There's a war on you know. Geesh next you'll want more Beck under your bunk." :arrgh!:

In my other careers It seemed like within the 3rd or 4th patrol I could have my choice of emblems, but I won't swear to that. :-?


Ah what the heck its just a Sim and the emblem isn't going to win or lose any battles.

But it does make me a little uneasy of some writer putting Renown into a WWII Simulation as if you were to be rewarded by a points system. Sorry but I think it's dumb.

Indeed that's the likely reason why.

I referred you to The Community Manual (http://www.communitymanuals.com/shiii/) for general information and in case you want to download addition emblem packs.

But you didn't respond to the rest of my post above, where I gave instructions on editing your career files to see if that will force the emblem on your UBoat.

I'm sorry Avon Lady guess I wasn't myself when I posted.

I allready have made up several tga's and entered in the emblem folder and used some of them in my last career so I'll wait untill I aquire more patrols. :) I've enough D/L's now as it is. :lol:

But I do thank you for your instructions on editing my career files as I may do that at a later time. :yep:

Thanks a lot @ the Avon Lady for the headsup to the community manual and the instructions how to edit the career files to force an emblem on the conning tower. I've just changed "the bull of Scapa Flow" (7th Flotilla) to U-96's "lachender Schwertfisch" (U-96 / 9th Flotilla) - after my first (quite succesful) Feindfahrt...

Like you wrote...works immediately while in port (before/after missions), doesn't work immediately while on sea. Thanks a lot again! :up:

I got directed to this thread asking a question how to add emblem to my sub, does this mean I have to be in a career, as I want to try and add an emblem to a British sub as a test in a single mission?
