I cannot zoom when in deck gun, periscope, UZO mode, as I'm playing with a mouse that has no wheel. Any suggestions?

Use the Tab key. ;)

Whew, the topic said you didn't have a mouse, I was trying to figure out just how in the heck you'd get anything done in XP without a mouse.

Yeah, I know all about shortcut keys and all, but with XP that would be a rather major pain.

Glad to see you aren't quite that bad off.

Hi Gorduz.

Just a few questions on the side: Judging from your signature it appears you have served on an MTB? I've seen them in port here in Stavanger several times, and I've often wondered what kind of ships they really are? What are they used for? Do they have any sonars etc. to hunt for subs? They are so small. What are their crew compliment?

Takk. :D

I served one year on an MTB. These boats main object was to lie silent and camoflaged in a Norwegian fjord, and then when the russians came charge a battlegroup and fire all they've got on it. Off course that was before. Now our primary mission is to escort ships and do recon work.

But they do pack a punch armed with 6 penguin anti-ship missiles, 2 Torpedos and a 40mm gun. Picture having a squadron of 3 attacking your battlegroup. (adds up to 6 torpedoes and 18 missiles innbound). They do about 30knots. In addition we have som air defence with a small mistral anti air missile. And against small targets we have 2 7.62 MGs

MTB? What is that? A hydrofoil?

Anyway, with the zoom thing. The tab key only lets you zoom through in one direction. Use the Setkey mod, and assign two keys; one for zoom-in, one for zoom-out. What I did was grab my SH3 keyboard overlay, and picked two keys that weren't being used for anything else. In my case, the numeric-keypad "0" and "." (INS and DEL).

Works absolutely wonderful on the plotting map, when you're plotting your course and you don't lose your plotting-tool.

Thanks Gorduz. Sounds like some pretty cool boats! And I think I've seen 3 lying side by side in port. Sometimes even two squadrons.

tycho102: MTB is the boat in Gorduz' signature picture. So not a hydrofoil. Not sure what the letters stand for. 'something Torpedo Boat'?

Btw there are sometimes military hyfrofoils/catamarans lying in port here as well. They look ultra-cool. All the surfaces are straight - almost like the stealth fighter. Guess they serve the same purpose on this, to emit low radar signatures.

Not 100% sure but I think MTB stands for "Motor Torpedo Boat"

Yes, indeed it does. Presumably that's to distinguish them from Sailing Torpedo Boats (STBs) and Rowed Torpedo Boats (RTBs). :D

But unfortunately you cannot distinguish them from the terrible Motorless Torpedo Buoys. Attacks with no warning. Perhaps a little ding dong from a bell but thats it!

Anyways, those abbrievations does not always have to make sense. Why was the american torpedo boats shortened to PT? And why DD for a destroyer?

:rotfl:

I want someone to mod both of those into the game! RTB's lol!

Good one!

Some of the katamarans are minelayers and in addition the norwegian navy is developing a new katamaran (or so to say) MTB called Skjold-class.

BTW: MTB did stand for motor torpedo boat, but now it stands for Missile Tropedo Boat.

But the most interesting is that the new Norwegian MTBs don't have torpedos!
