SHIII vs Other Subsims (DW/SHII/SC/) By requirements/Bugs

1)For all the time it took to make sh3 don't you think I should have alot better?

How do you like the New menu systems? (I think they can get in the way in sh3)

3)Do you feel the graphics fit the reqirements? (eg need a 128mb videocard)
(eg. other sibsims=standard videocard sh3=128mb)

4)is Starforce 3 neccecery on a dvd?

5)Bugs (sh3=patches Please) (other subsims=1 to 2)

6)Price (sh3 $50 +video upgrade+Dvd Drive requred) vs Cdrom=other subsims


P.S this is not an anti sh3 topic just feel ubisoft wasted too much time on protection and graphics. Not enough tome on development and compatabillity (should have had a low res mode for people with onboard video like other subsims and/ort a cd version) AND I want to see how many agree and/or dissagree.

I fully support their decision to go DVD only. We're getting to the point where CD versions of games are 4-6 discs and it's just a pain to keep track of that. DVD-ROM drives are available for $30-$40 so its not a big deal to pick one up if you don't have one.

As for the other stuff I didn't really follow how long the dev took, and I have a beast of a system for other games so I haven't had a single hardware related problem in the game. I'm a Tribes player so patches don't faze me at all. Tribes 2 out of the box had so many terrible bugs that anything else seems minor to me now :P

1) It should've been a lot better. But find me something that does what it does better and, well, you won't unless you can live with AoD's old technological standards in which case, OK.

2) Menu systems? What do you mean?
Personally, I think SHIII's interface is the best I've yet seen in a game, bar none. Although to improve the flow, things like TimeTraveller's slideout mod and a few custom key binds go a long way.

3) Huh? Since when is 128mb neccesary? I hear people can play it fine on 64 meg cards.
That aside - standard? 128mb is pretty standard these days.

4) No, of course it's unneccesary and bad. I can live with it though.

5) I think the number of patches has been a blessing. Few sims/games get that many these days. Sure it's not fixed, but I think the game has generally been remarkably stable and playable. That said, it's not the same without many corrections and additions made by modders.

6) SHIII is the best deal I ever got, period. I think the price is right. Upgrades have nothing to do with how good the deal is, and SHIII is fairly forgiving on very standard hardware compared to many other games.

4. probibly not everyone hates starforce But it does prevent a few people I know (who shall remain nameless) from downloading it and making copies and then charging there friends for something they baseically stole through file shareing

5. first, show me a game that has no bugs! True, most games have 1-2 patches and SHIII has 3. But take Diablo for an ex. that game has 10!!!!!!!

6)It seems that people are ok with paying for a game then patching,patching waiting waiting repeat. I feel that any game shoud be tested better to endure bugs are removed prior to relese. (I have only had to patch very few games)

7)Better=work on more strategy,less graphics (Graphics are ok but in real life when your in a sub you dont see explosions or weahter or fancy effects these are all addons to make a game look good and thats why most people buy games right.

8)I posted this to see how many people prefer graphics to games. Here people have played games like aces of the deep,silent service ect for years.

9)we all wanted sh3 I just dont have the same feeling I got from sh2 and other subsims like DW,Aces,Silent Service. (Sh3 just seems too much like a movie than a sim.

SH3 is miles ahead of what SH2 ever was :roll: and with the mods is even better. Miles yes it should be it only took three years. I say sh3 should be not miles ahead but nautical miles or kilomiles ahead. I never said sh2 was beter. Sh2 cant be its outdated (but still fun for me). But SH3 should be more realistic in its game play. (someday you'll understand) Besides I Have SH3 and DW and SH2. Yes, Iplay all Three people seem to think that this is a anti sh3 it is not. just some questions to get a genral feel, to see if people really look into what they play. I know others and moders make the games we play better. Why do you think people mod games (P. aces for sh2)hmmm...?

Don't patronise me, I know very well where SH3 is not realistic, but the modders have already started fixing the problems. :cool:
