I was frustrated with my cheap headphones and decided to splurge a little this past weekend.

Fired up the Jeep and off to the supply hut! I picked up a set of Altec Lansing 3d w/mic headphones for a hundred. Schmerzen!

Unreal. The 3d Surround Sound is crap your bdu's amazing. When you get pinged - you get PINGED. I also use the Internal Life mod and it sounds great.

I then installed the voice command mods and free voice software, and it was a very easy process. I did a minor tweak so that I have an open mic and don't have to press a hotkey to speak.

I highly recommend high-end phones and playing SH3 with voice command. There were a few commands that it wouldn't recognize for me, so I went back to Shoot and did a few of the voice training sessions so the software picks up my voice and speech patterns better.

Alles Gute!

Headphones for me, much better for listening to faint prop sounds.

Having a good HP from Sennheiser helps even more.

Speakers for everything except hydrophone.

Speakers for everything except hydrophone.

Interesting. How do you do that? Do you have speakers and headphones plugged in simultanously, or do you switch every time you use the hydrophones?

For ultimate immersion I choose headphones. There are no other background noises to dristract you. When I'm cruising on the surface and the waves are lapping up on the boat and the seagulls are making noises all over the roar of the diesels I can almost smell the sea water sometimes.

Speakers - 6.1 Bose Acoustimass. I hooked up my PC to the A/V receiver. Large guns really sound like large guns man, you can feel it in the chest :sunny:

Both. Speakers most of the time, but if I take over the hydrophone, I plug in the headphones.

I use headphones all the time - I find it more immersive, and with earphones I'm never worried about disturbing others.

I don't remember voting on this, but the vote button is missing and I can see the result? :o

Anyway, like many others, headphones when it will disturb others, otherwise speakers. :)

Occasionally I use headphones when I am using the hydrophones myself as I find it easier to detect ships at extreme range. :ping:
