Hi all,
When the periscope gets wet and goes blurry, on "up periscope" or in rough weather, the graphics slow down and a crash occurs that freezes the whole computer. It happens on any time compression. Just wondering if anyone else had noticed this since I am having trouble isolating a pattern with it...sometimes I'll load the game up and no slowdown and sometimes it slows down. This is with the same background programmes running etc.
My specs are:
Windows XP Service pack 2
AMD Athalon 1994 MHz
512K RAM
RADEON 9500 Graphics card

Hi guys, I think I have a new problem for you. Couldn't seem to find it in any other threads. After the past couple of missions, while in-base, I can't acces the box with my medals in it, nor can I do anything with the boat. I can get to the crew management screen and some of the logs, but nothing else. I also noticed when I go to start a mission that my assigned grid is 'NULL'. Any idea what's going on?? Thanks!

Its a bug, now that i read yours for i only thought i had this problem. I found to fix it for me was to start a new campaign and dont choose Kiel as my starting base, You should only get NULL if you stopped at a friendly port that is not your base. So if your base is kiel but you returned to Wehelmshaven base instead then you wont be able to access your Uboat only the crew, you then have to leave and return to your base. This is what NULL is for. But now i notice that NULL pops up even when returning to the proper base??? My proper base was KIEL.
I started a new campaign and choose Wehelmshaven and haven't got the problem since.

Hello all:
I do not know is this is related with the well known "automatic crew management" bug, but I'm having CTD's in a random frequency while playing my career. Those CTD's are more common when I'm managing my crew "one by one".
I'm using an ATI X300 with catalyst drivers, an Intel CPU 3,2, 1 Gb RAM, XP SP2.
Any help is welcome, cause I really like this game.

I have also seen the problem with the periscope transitioning through the water as it is being raised... and the system slows way down to a crawl. I can eventually get out of the periscope screen by typing a keyboard command to go directly to another screen. Seeing this transition on another system (which works), I think it may have to do with the water effect on the lens of the periscope (a graphics issue). On the system where I see this system slow-down, I am using DirectX 9.0b (rather than the recommened 9.0c). It is on a laptop (XP, SP2) with 768MB mem and an nVida fx5600-Go. Other than this issue, the game seems to run fine.
It is the DirectX version and the laptop display drivers that I list as my primary suspect.

Cheers for the reply. :up: I had directX 9c installed before but have just upgraded to 768 MB RAM which seems to have cleared it up....so far.
EDIT: Seems it only temporarily cleared up but just in case anyone else is having this problem see:

I am glad your scope issue "cleared up". This last weekend I upgraded my old DX 9.0b drivers (for nVidia FX5600 go - laptop) with new version 80.40 drivers (DX 9.0c).

And, gosh, they worked! Now I can use the periscope as it was meant to be used! (no more slowing down to a crawl when the scope lens transitioned through the surface of the water).
At this poiint, it seems all aspects of SH3 are working now (I have 768 MB memory).

I haven't had any problems with SH before, but for the last months there've been a few issues with the graphics...
The game will, every few seconds, lag. Just kinda jump! Nothing very serious, but definitely noticable, especially in external view.
Got a nifty lil' laptop:
Inspiron 6000
1024 Mb RAM, 1.6 GHz, ATI Radeon X300, 128 Mb.
Is this enough? Didn't I hear something about problems with ATI...?

Problem solving:
A couple of people reported various problems/odd crashes with patches up to version 1.3
Strongly advise a complete uninstall, then patching to version 1.4b over a CLEAN install.
(This fixed some save-CTD's, time-compression CTD's, and crew-shifting CTD's for me.)

Couple obvious things to double-check first:
-Make sure your video card meets game reqirements
-Make sure your DVD drive/burner is working normally
-Make sure you choose the right patch for your situation (i.e. european/us version)
Also recommend not attempting to play the game before you patch.
And for what it's worth, I chose NOT to install Gameshadow.
If this doesn't work, you could also try the "clean out Starforce first" approach posted earlier in this thread.

Issue: In Saved Careers, Uboat Type is overwritten for all saves with default starting Uboat Type.
For example: I started a career in 1942 with a Type VII with Type 3 Conning Tower. After saving and coming back to reload, all saves for this career, except for the one After Patrol One, appear as Type IIa.

Whatever is corrupting the saves in this case is altering the Main.cfg file.
This is from my Main.cfg in the SH3 folder in My Documents. Notice that the Submarine Type and Submarine Version has been changed to 0 and the name has been erased.

I can't patch up to 1.2. The first patch came in fine (Once I got the US version, because I'm an idiot)... Then 1.2, 1.3, 1.4b, nada. I get the "unknown version" of missionengine.dll or de_menu.txt... Tried with both the US and AMEA version. Not working.

You only need patch 1.4b, it includes all previous changes. Apply it to a fresh installation.

hi i bought sh3 a couple of months ago i just updated my drivers and installed the game and the game version was 1.1 the game ran perfectly fine then i decided to update i updated it to 1.4b and when i run the game the video plays then the load screen pops up when the load screen finishes the game exits and my computer goes back to the desktop how can i fix this so i can play online

As in,
Blue Screen of Death(The Defualt Protection Error screen windows OSs' give when they have a *usually* unrecoverable crash until it is forced into a Cold Boot.)
I have an odd problem, I have an ATI gfx card. It can't run SH3 on the surface but it does great when submerged I think it is because the sea surface uses a higher shader and my Radeon 7500 is old it has 128 ddr and a 1,5ghz oricessor with 512 ddr.
Anywho, when I came online one day my comp told me to update to DirectX9.0c December Release. So I did, after this it informed me my Catalyst(ATI's Driver suite) needed to be updated. After doing both MY SH3 won't load! :(
It goes to the CD Checker when it passes that, nothing. I thought it was just taking its time but I waited hours and it never took hours before and still nothing. It is like after CD Check the process is terminated. I'm noticing the new drivers are doing that alot with my games. What is the deal, anyone know how I can fix this?

okay,
I deleted both and it was still a no-go so I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted and now SH3 keeps telling me about an exception error with this info,

I tried to get the detailed report but it was huge and wouldn't allow me to C'n'P it.
the error seems to come from the Detection tool, now everytime I install SH3 it dosn't ask me for my CD-Key and it dosn't ask me to reboot anymore.

That´s more or less a feature, not a bug. The uninstaller doesn´t remove Starforce. If the protection system is broken it could help to remove the Starforce driver with this tool:

Then reboot your system, start SH3, it then reinstalls SF.

Done and done,
now we pass the first grey screen with a white loading bar but when it goes to the small banner like load bar with the games cover art on it with a blue load bar, before it can even try to load the blue it crashes.

I suggest that you try to reinstall it again. After you have uninstalled it manually delete the main SH3 dir and also mydocuments\sh3 (make a backup of mydocuments\sh3, otherwise you would lose your campaign). Very often after a normal uninstall some files won´t be deleted by the uninstaller and those files can cause trouble under some circumstances.

My first post here, but heavy one... or is it? ;) I have problems with graphics in SH3 after replacing ATI 9550 with FX5900. Smoke coming from funnel is black, but only until I look into the sun or through binoculars, when it becomes transparent white, so it is much harder to spot the ship from distance. Here`s an example:

As you see, there are bugs with sea foam too... it`s white, but -again- after bringing the sun into scene, or using binoculars, it gets grey... but at least this is not something so important for gameplay - smoke is real problem.
Now, I`ve noticed two things: first, when I pause the game, switch the task with some other program (say, Internet Explorer or anything else), then return to game and continue, smoke and sea foam are back to normal, but only until I look at the sun, when they become ugly again. Second, sun is too bright - after pausing the game and switching the task, it becomes normal and all graphics errors are gone. Obviously there is some connection between smoke and sunlight:

I`ve already reinstalled DirectX 9.0c, latest Forceware drivers and the game itself, but with no effect. FX5900 is working fine btw... there`s no problems in some other games (Rome Total War and Call of duty), nor in 3DMark 2001/03/05.
Can someone help me or give some hint, please?

If I was you , I would try some older Forceware drivers .
The FX5900 is a DirectX 9 card only and not a 9.0c , which could be the reason why you have some light troubles .
It might have something to do with the way the pixel shaders interact with the videocard 's memory :hmm:

Cherche des pilotes plus anciens ou utilises ceux de ton disque d 'installation (Leadtek) .
Les derniers pilores sont concus pour DirectX 9.0c alors que ta XT est seulement une DirectX 9 .

For this problem of smoke, I had already tested with former pilots and even with that provided with the graphics board, but that did not solve the problem. :damn:

Chose importante : il faut désinstaller les pilotes graphique avant d'installer les anciens pilotes, chose que je n'avais pas fait auparavant. :damn:
Plus de problème de fumée, mais malheureusement les graphismes sont beaucoup moins jolis maintenant.
Je crois que je vais remettre mes ForceWares 66.93, tant pis pour la belle fumée. :nope:

Important thing: it is necessary for désinstaller the pilots graph before installing the former pilots, thing which I had not made before. :damn:
More problem of smoke, but unfortunately graphics are much less pretty now.
I believe that I will give my ForceWares 66.93, so much worse for beautiful smoke. :nope:

Il y a 6 mois , j 'avais la meme carte que toi . Apres avoir installe les pilotes d 'origine (ceux de la carte) je n 'ai JAMAIS deinstalle les pilote avant d 'en installe de plus recent .
Le bon truc avec les pilotes NVidia , c 'est que tu n 'as pas besoin d 'enlever quoi que ce soit , tu installes les plus recent pilotes PAR DESSUS ceux que tu as .
Aussi simple que ca ;)

Hi.
I just discovered the this mind boggling game and have not been able to do or think of anything else ever since... :dead:
After a hunt for interesting mods, I found out about Improved U-boat and downloaded it (v1.02). The problem being that after I install it (using JSGME) on a clean 1.4b version of the game, it's no longer possible to start it (i.e the game freezes about halfway through loading). After an ALT+TAB I noticed an error message saying "there is a new (not implemented) page : <Page Ingame Options> !" followed by "Menu ID not found : 0x1a000008"
I tried removing the mod and putting it back again, but no change occured... FYI I use windows 2000 SP4 and have an ATI X800 XL graphics card, also most my drivers are up to date.
I did find a thread mentionning this problem but it was quite old and not for the same mod (and gave no anwsers obviously :shifty: ).
Anyone know what's wrong?

I have annoying problem: when any mission is loaded and begins, help screen appears and i cannot remove it.

I REPAIR pc's for a living. You can't just plug in extra memory wherever there's an open slot. Some motherboards require you to stagger the memory sticks. That said, I want to thank you all because I've had the SAME problem .....new system...Pentium 4 3.2 Mhz, !GB Ram and a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB. And went round and round with ATI and after reading this thread, updated my soundblaster LIVE driver from the windows default, and now everything's ok.
I never would have thought...Thanks again!

Ok, heres a good one.
Yesterday, I had SHIII v1.4b and RUB loaded and running fine.
I then download and installed SHIII Commander and NYGM RUB Campaign mod RUB version.
Everything runs fine as far as I can see but now I do not get any sound from any crew members and no sound of launching torpedos.
I installed SHIII Commander within the SHIII directory.
Any suggestions?

RUB, NYGM and Grey Wolves all have that change, or you can go directly to Silent Hunter III/Data/Submarine. The Cfg file for each submarine type has a line labeled Storm Conditions. It should say 7, which means that at 7 m/s winds you can't use the deck gun. Just change it to 11 or 12, or the max of 15, and you'll be able to use the gun in higher winds and waves.

I know this is kinda illegal, but can you take the SHIII disc out after it checks it, and then start it on a another computer? or will it check again for multiplayer?
And is there a way to copy the disc? NERO 6 doesn't quite work cause it's protected. :x

Yes, that´s kinda illegal, please don´t ask such questions here.
And is there a way to copy the disc?
Not really. You can copy it, but then you can´t play it because of the copy protection.

I'm just asking. I don't want to buy another disk for my dad.
A problem emerged today:
I was playing a campaign mission when error message appeared. It looked more or less like:
Module 0x02622e87 caused the memory to 0x000000, memory cannot be read, OK to close the application, Cancel to debug.

From that time on, I cannot play SH III. I can load game but when it comes to the very mission, I can see menus showing up and then the message appears.
SH III repair as well as reload of all mods did not help.
Any idea to to possible cause?
I`m playing GW with extended unified campaign and a mix of integrated orders+GW menu.

I have had the problem before, but I just restarted and it worked again. Try doing a disk cleanup, diskcheck or defrag. If that doesn't work, just backup any game files and re-install. I have a hunch that there is a bad sector and it needs to be repaired.
Ok very annoying stuff happening here. On about patrol 8 or 9 the game throws me back to hte desktop!
I start silent hunter iii, it loads, click career - saved games - my save game, it loads, it says initializing for a long time and then bang! I'm at my desktop...
I guess I could try to load a previous one but this isn't the first time this happens... generally even in game while playing I get crashes and stuff
Anyone can help??

also use Dr.Watson32.exe under WINDOWS\system32
this logs errors for programs too. Then take the error dump to microsoft and figure out the error (this can be hard to find out)

Hi all
I hope this is the right place for this.
I was having complete re-boot crashes with XP and SH3 with the 1.4b update and finally got a message from MS to download from windows update, the patch for my audio card (RtkHDAud.sys)
This fixed it and I'm now able to start playing!!!

this logs errors for programs too. Then take the error dump to microsoft and figure out the error (this can be hard to find out)

This is my very frist post in this forum and at first I would like to thank everyone for the information that lead me to aqquire the GW 1.1 mod and several others. They have enhanced my SH3 vanilla immensily.
However, I am experiencing a annoying problem when using XXI - type sub:
It seems nearly impossible to maintain correct depth with it when seas are anything more than 5 m/s. I have spent hours trying to find a sollution to this problem from these forums, but was unable to spot one.
1. XXI at zero speed will steadily sunk for me. It seems crew won't adjust ballast tanks for depth at all (veteran - elite crew)
2. XXI at moderate winds (over 5 m/s) will start "bouncing" recklesly between depths of 9 - 29 m (ordered periscope-depth). Using any amount of time compression will multiply this effect. Crew is constantly switching between diesels and batteries. Even more serious - when trying to manouvre near enemy DD's, the boat will "jump" high enough for DD's to open fire at it. (very very frustrating). Effect seems to stabilize when TC goes up to 256 - 1024.
3. To figure out the problem I monitored the dive planes at F3 - view and witnessed how violently the crew where using them (I would've liked to correct them in a firm manner, but... ). In desperate effort to try and maintain the assigned depth, they seemed to do actually more harm than good - ie. adjusting them to maximum value "up" while travelling in high wave, which results the boat to "jump out" from the sea between waves. (Damn stupid sailors!).
4. As a result, I find myself "tending" depth constantly during attacks. A biggest problem for me as a commander during convoy-attack. ...not very realistic is it?
To portray the immersion that biggest problem XXI - commander had, was to maintain the level depth during attacks?
Question:
1. Am I the only one experiencing this problem?
2. Is there any way to adjust dive planes manually? (I'll do it myself, since these morons-for-a-crew can't handle it during critical manouvers)
3. Is there a way to Mod the values of XXI to minimize the effect?
4. Is there a way to remove this nerve-breaking "feature" any other manner?
5. I'd like to keep the sea-waves as they are - just make the boat run more "stabile" when it comes to dive-planes.
I find it so annoying, that I consider sticking with D2's permanently - even though other then range, they were much more inferior to XXI in terms of capability.

hi im wondering if someone could tell me why im not seeing some of the new ships in the convoys im attacking in my career mode. and is this the right forum to post this thread? ive downloaded most of AG124s ships and installed them.also ive got U-234s canard liner.i see all these ships in the museum when i log into the game,but out on patrol in my career mode i just see the stock SH3 ships:hmm: im currently running GW 1.0 and 1.1 with hotfix overlay,and GW-unified campaign which i installed manually.and a couple other mods like fubars crew skins,and the tanker seafloor mod.im wondering do i need to script these new ships into the game somehow or what. i love sinking ships in this game,but the same old ones bores me to death it would be neat to come across a auxiallary cruiser,or an empire celt tanker the new ship with credits to the mod designer AG124.any help with this would be awesome.

Have you placed them into the individual 'Sea' folders for each nation in the 'Roster' folder? That's where they are chosen from when a convoy is formed.

i put the GWNS add ons mod in and enabled it with JSGME, which includes all of AG124s ships except the empire celt tanker i have not installed that one yet,under the -roster then sea folder i see the ships in there. i looked in the british ships roster, in there i found the US instead of BR clatham transport, hmmm thats strange you would think that would go in the american ships folder,but these ship were installed using JSGME instead of manually.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the national listing in each Roster folder determines what flag the ship flies. You can just change the listing in each folder to match the nation the folder is for.
After thinking about it, it might be possible that it just hasn't randomly assigned those ships to any convoys you've seen. They could be there waiting to go.

My game at the first load screen just crashes and goes to destop now, no window pop up etc, nothing at all. I've tried removing SH3 and reinstalling a few times now, it keeps doing the same thing, anyone have an idea?

thnx sailor steve for your input,i went in the roster then sea folders and changed the display names to the correct nationality for the british and american ships for AG124s ships.and like you said maybe there out there waiting to showup.will see what happens,in the meantime im downloading NYGM_war tonnage mod 2.0 and making a seperate install of SH3.i have another big question about the "grey wolves mod",how come you never see any enemy airplanes:hmm: ive been all over the atlantic and no PBys,hurricanes or Sunderlands,thats a big dissapointment.also im thinking of getting that "daily contact report mod" im wondering if that will work with GW,that is a cool little mod it makes more convoys show up on the map instead of sailing all over the place.

Two problems with planes:
1) In the stock game they show up way too much; they travel and attack in large groups, when in reality the big patrol planes usually travelled alone.
2) They are way to easy to shoot down; players have claimed as many as 20 PBYs or Sunderlands before finally being overwhelmed. In real life the sub was lucky to escape even one without damage.
The Airpower mod attempted to address both those problems, making aircraft sightings and attacks much fewer, and making the planes much tougher to shoot down. All of the supermods have included Airpower or something like it of their own devising, so you shouldn't see them as much.
Also, it is an often-reported bug that if you are travelling at a time compression of 1024 or higher it can interrupt plane sightings; either you never see any at all or you see one right after it attacks you! Luckily I'm using a version of Airpower, and the few times I've been attacked so far they missed.
The only thing I can really suggest is travel at a lower time compression.

Hello all. This is a problem that I've had from the beginning, but I really hoped that GW would correct it....it seems not so. I have just reinstalled SH3...patched it, and then installed GW. The problem is that... with no apparent reason, the voices of the officers are heard only in the central post. If I'm using the external camera and give an order, there is no voice that acknowledges my command...and also no other sounds whatsoever, except the ones thar come from other vessels. This usually occurs during a patrol, and in order to correct it I can only uninstall and reinstall the whole game. It's very frustrating. Sometimes I play for weeks and everything works just fine...sometimes it happens three times a day. :-?:-?:-? pls......help a humble periscope manoeuvrerer...
My favorites games are Silent Hunter 3 and Il2 Sturmovik. SH3 was running with no problems, but due to some permanent echo in all sounds in Il2 Sturmovik I had to down the hardware acceleration nob a bit . Perfect sound in Sturmovik now but guess what? some voices in SH3 are too loud (wach officer) and others are too low. I change back the hardware acc. back to full but the voices are still with the volume messed up. Any help?

Go to the Data/Submarine folder. You have to change the file for each type of u-boat. The file is labeled 'Storm Settings' or 'Storm Conditions', and the stock setting says '7', meaning the gun can't be used in 7 m/s winds or higher. Mine are set to '12', just for the flak guns. I never use the deck gun if I see waves washing over the deck.
Upgraded settings come with both supermods.

In sh3\data\submarine\<uboot>\NSS_<uboot>.cfg change "StormConditions" with Notepad or any other text editor. When you set it to 15,1 you can use the guns in any weather condition.

This could be a RAM-problem, or cpu. I have experienced similar difficulties with GW. I think the extra eye candy is buggering my ailing computer. (Only with TC 1024)

There are several things you can try.
Disable Autorun. Download and install TweakUI:

Start it, go to My Computer, Autoplay, Drives, deselect your CD ROM and click Apply. Then go to My Computer, Autoplay, Types and deselect Enable Autoplay for CD and DVD drivers, click Apply. Exit the program, reboot and try to install SH3.
Update/reinstall the chipset drivers of your board:

If that helped your next problem will be that the version of Starforce that comes with SH3 doesn´t run under WinXP 64-bit, so you can´t start SH3. There is no official solution for that. Use Google to find a fix.
Hello all, as this is my first post I would like to greet everyone :cool:
To the point. Everything with SH3 graphics is ok on my comp but there's one thing that I really don't like and, as I remember, I havent met this problem in the previous installations. Well, the problem is that my u-boot and all ships are red underwater :roll: I really find it kinda strange - above water everything is ok but with camera underwater these red shadows look realy nasty.
My graphics is GF6600GT (with latest drivers).
I'd be very grateful for any help.

Cant seem to pause the game for any extended period of time with out the game locking up. I happens as well on the opening screen.....it I leave for about 10+ minutes...It will be locked up....most of the time.:nope: (p.s....not screen saver...it's set to 50 minutes, dont know if that would cause it)

All of the sudden my attack periscope now takes forever to dry off (for the water to run down and view clears up)--it stays blurry for a really long time (45 sec to minute) even at shallow periscope depth making taking shots and tracking a pain-it clears up eventually and then when a wave hits its back to blurry for another minute!!! My Observation scope is fine and doesn't do this--only the attack scope. this is just killing me because it just started happening for no reason yesterday--have been playing for over a month and it was fine. I didn't install any new mods that would affect graphics-- I have latest video drivers and have tried the sedona and extreme forceware 84.xx drivers. No major changes to my system except changing sound acceleration (which i tried changing back)for SWAT 4 to run. I am using:
SH3 Commander 2.6(tried starting without to see if it would fix it--didn't)

I've been having these until recently so here is how i fixed it for those who might benefit--
write down the menuid # when the error pops up --
search on that number in the menu1024.ini file or dials.cfg
see what it refers to, i.,e. periscope stuff or tdc layout, etc. then search on that to see if you find anything suspicious. usually the menu numbers are duplicated or out of order:
Mine turned out to be a double numbering of G3F I140 -- so I had to renumber everything after G3F I140. I was using:
GW 1.1a
SH3 Comm 2.6
TDC Slideout for attack scope
4Dials slideout
now everything runs flawlessly. no errors

Hi,
I have just completed a reinstall from disk - 1.4 - NYGM mod and everything was fine as I pootled across the sea.
I then ran into a warship which dropped some depth charges and then as they exploded my sound went insane. It was like it was being put through a filter, had echos, screeches, white noise etc.
I exited from the mission and then it suddenly went really mental, just very loud white noise.
I tried loading the mission from my save and the sound was still bad.
All my drivers are fine, everything is ok and the game always used to work.
I will try uninstalling the NYGM mod to see if that helps, but beyond that does anyone have any suggestions?

This is just me guessing, do you have TGW mod?
I have it to and I crossed the option when installing the mod something about Names of the ships
I like the Contact idea because now i have to come close to identify the ship.

I'm awaiting delivery of my new system with an AMD Athion 64 X3 4200+ dual-core 2.2 GHZ processor. Graphics card is an ATI Radeon X1600 XT. Will that run SH3?

Pentium 4, 3 Gig, 512Mb RAM, Radeon something video card (I can't get to my computer to look at the actual specs right now), onboard audio. Sure I have some minor problems that more memory and a real sound card should fix, but overall the game loads and runs fine.

Hello, I'm having a problem with SH3. When loading my career to continue my next patrol (#29) it loads up but starts as 'game paused'. None of the controls work and I'm unable to get it out of paused mode. I've tried ending patrol, and returning to base and beginning a new patrol and that too loads up as 'game paused' with a black screen. I've also tried going to a previous patrol and it loads up the same way. The only way out is to abandon career or return to port. I'm not sure maybe when I saved the game last it was paused? Has anyone else had this problem? Even when I go to play a single mission senario (Bismark, etc.) game loads paused and I can't do anything to get out of it.

I keep getting an error on startup after the dialog box that says "checking disk".
Message pops up saying "Error: The application's file SH3.EXE was modified. It may damaged or infected by a virus. Please reinstall."
I had 1.4b patch installed and had not played in several weeks. Haven't modded a thing since it last worked reliably.
I have uninstalled, and reinstalled the stock program from the DVD, and same thing.
I cleaned the registry of refernces to Ubisoft and SH3 last go round.
Any suggestions?

hi, im running grey wolves and on my first patrol,in the mediterranean sea i was only able to sink a large cargo and a J class DD.My patrol grid was around malta which i went around the island at least once.The problem is im not getting many ship contacts.i tried to sail into the harbor on the island but there were just to many escorts,so i ended up returning to base. with at least 6 torps left just wasnt getting any ship contacts.im wondering is there a mod i can use to make more ships appear in the game or on the map so i can attack.Ive tried that daily_contact report mod and the single contact merchant mod,are those the mods that would fix this issue?

Remember that once you've patrolled your grid for the 24 hours, you're free to roam the map anywhere you want to find other targets. In fact, if you don't mine losing the renoun, you can even skip the patrol grid all together.

First you enter the office area, and click your mouse on the far right desk. It'll say UBOAT when your cursor is positioned on it. On the next screen, you'll see all your various options, beginning with U-Boats. With that highlighted, you'll see a list of all available uboats down the left side, and the amount of renown needed to purchase the particular uboat that you click on, on the right hand side of the screen. When you select a sub (a single click of the mouse on the sub type), let's say the IXC, for example, you'll see a graphics picture of that uboat at the middle of the screen, a list of specs for that uboat below it, and the amount of renown needed to "buy" that uboat, which would be about 7,500. If this is the sub you want, and you have enough renown to buy it, then DOUBLE-CLICK the mouse on the uboat type at the left side, and the uboat will be yours. You merely have to outfit it as you desire and can afford to. Your crew will "follow" you to the new sub. If it's a larger sub than you previously had, then you'll have the option of going back to the office and clicking on the file cabinet in the upper left corner which says "CREW". In the screen, you can select additional crew so that you're not shorthanded when you go out on your next mission.:up:

Don't think I missed an others out. Why me I was good to my mum.:oops:
