ME-109 and BF-109 are one and the same, I think...

yeah they are the same. Me is Messerschmitt and Bf is Basic Fighter. Same awesome plane.

Bf stands for Bayerische FlugzeugWerke, or Bavarian Aircraft Works. Willi Messerschmitt was chief designer for that factory until June 1938, when he took over and renamed it the Messerschitt FlugzeugBau. Any plane designed before that date is properly labeled Bf, any designed after is properly named Me: the renaming started with the Me-163 Komet, so it is correctly Bf-109.
