No worries. You can always ask help. We are here to help each other. I think there are some people who know this kind of stuff, and will gladly assist you.

Did you installed mods? Did you have other sh3 versions installed. Did you installed it in the wrong directory?

I moved SH3 from program files to disk, as Wolfpack said. I have a folder called silent hunter, in which i have the base game and GWX. I have changed the properties of the game according to the video. When I start the game, it playes two starting videos and then displays an error message.

Nothing stated in there works for me, still the same problem. Its a problem only for the modded SH3, normal runs no problem

Define "better"? Download them both, make two folder outside of the Program Files folders, and put one in each. Use MultiSH3 to create a new Save folder for each (such as OAM and KC1 or whatever you want), and play them both. See what you like.

The modded game runs at 1920x1080. If you do not have that, then a start will fail. It will also fail if you did not empty your original SH3 save folder and did not use MultiSH3 to make a new save folder. It will also fail if you did not install that Silent Hunter 3 you have. It will also fail if you do not have the SH3.exe Properties window Compatibility tab set to what your computer can do. The main thing you need to do to get help is to post your graphics card and display details, as well as make a couple of screen grabs of your "Properties - Compatibility" window, so show what you have things set to now. Let us know if your SH3 game is installed and not just a copy of a folder from an old computer. :salute:

If I understand it correctly, I have the intel (R) HD graphics card.
My display is 1680*1050
I have silent hunter from steam, and set the GWX save folder to XYZ

You must be able to support 1920x1080 graphics to run GWX knights cross. Furthermore Intel HD graphics will struggle with rendering the fog, smoke and spray effects in recent mods at a reaonable frame rate.

If you must have Knights Cross then try plugging in an external display that supports 1920x1080, such as a 1080p (or even 4K) TV, but I think you will not like the frame rate you get.

I suggest you try an earlier GWX or NYGM super mod compatible with either the vanilla 1024x768 graphics or a different widescreen GUI (e.g. Widescreen MaGui v3.4 for 1366x768).

If the game starts and will run the academy training missions but fails in career mode then you are probably hitting the 32 bit Windows memory addressing limits. You need the 4Gb patch or the HSie hard coded fixes to increase the usable memory.
I suggest the HSie hard coded fixes with Stiebler's enhancements: Stiebler4C_V16B1.7z
Whilst it is awesome, this is horrible to install. Take a deep breath...

You need a copy of sh3.exe incorporating the official patch to V1.4 (you probably have this already, look at the bottom right corner of the game's main start menu to see the version: the official patch is silent_hunter_3_dvd_1.4b_emea.exe). You are going to apply a utility in the mod to patch this file to V16B1.

Read the incredibly confusing instructions in the mod, especially Instructions_Stiebler4C_V16B1_Addon.rtf. Print them out. Have a rant. Put head in hands.
Copy your sh3.exe into the folder with Patch_SH3.bat and run the .bat file.
Manually edit a couple of menu text files as indicated in Instructions_Stiebler4C_V16B1_Addon.rtf and place them with the patched sh3.exe in a folder that is part of the mod. This folder is then copied to [sh3 directory]\mods and manually selected using JSGME.
There is a utility in the mod called HsieOptionsSelector.exe which allows you to customise the many additional features in the mod.

Your chosen widescreen mod is installed with JSGME after the Stiebler mod. I suggest you get it working without widescreen first.

Good luck! You are going to need it. This is why modern supermods include all this stuff already done. You thought the game was hard.....

You are a bit limited by the Intel HD graphics, so GWX gold is a good fit.
Some recent "optimus" laptops have Intel HD graphics plus a Nvidia graphics processor which switches in when the driver thinks it is required. This is a complete pain and if you have it you can usually switch in the Nvidia chip permanently via a BIOS setting.
The Stiebler mod has some really good gameplay fixes as well as the memory management stuff. You might want to try it at a later date. Sadly the FAQ's on this site are a bit of a mess so it's not wasted effort for me to have written down an outline of the process!
Have fun! The best feature of GWX IMHO is to sink the whale factory ship and then take a look at it using the external camera...:)

I’m sorry to interfere but I have a PC with KC but I think I’m not playing it at 1920x1080… What I see and photos I see how it should look like are quite different and I think it could be because before I set my computer to run stock SH3 in other resolution because it didn’t have this one. They are separated and I changed it to 1920x1080 on this one but I don’t think it actually changed it… Is there something else I forgot to do that could be the reason?

The GWX KC d3d9.dll is very obstinate, i think it really will only run at 1920x1080. For previous widescreen mods it was possible to edit d3d9.ini and get it to run at different resolutions but the 2D graphics (I guess powered by directdraw) would then not fit the screen or the 3D view. In any case I couldn't use this trick with GWX KC.
Your monitor can only really display its "native" resolution but your graphics card and your monitor are pulling all sorts of scaling tricks to arrive at the list of supported graphics modes presented to Windows. d3d9 just checks for 1920x1080 in that list. There is a lot of market value in supporting 1920x1080 and 1024x768 is often used as a "default" resolution for setup so these modes are often offered even if the screen has the wrong "native" aspect ratio for these. The game will run but will look stretched.
Some graphics drivers allow you to mess with the display modes and create new modes by stretching and scaling. My experience with d3d9.dll (on Linux) is that it just resets these custom modes but it's worth a try on Windows.

As a last resort check that you have not got the game running in windowed mode. Check [sh3 directory]\data\Cfg\Main.cfg it should include FullScreen=Yes
