Working on expanding the roster in TMO Update. Using real names and tonnage of merchant vessels as much as possible. One of the great resources used is at link below. Thought I would share.

One of the sources for the update I did to the RecMan in the Targeting Assistant.

Great source of info which I'm hoping to replicate in V2!

Here's an old PDF "test" I did of something I was going to add as a "printable" suppliment back then but never got around to finishing:

https://www.mediafire.com/file/p6bmf0182v5uzco/manual_test.pdf/file

It uses the sillouettes from the sim along with some actual pics from the manual itself.

So many things, so little time! :D

Very nice. If interested in doing for upcoming TMO update (now titled V3.0) let me know, we can collaborate.

Sure! Just send me a msg and I'll get back to you as soon as I'm able.

I'm almost done with the left side of the IsWas, so once done it should be good to go for use.

I'll go through my older thumb drives and see where the rest of the stuff is at for the Targeting Asst update I was working on. I'd already downloaded ALL the graphics and had "scubbed" them way back then so the only ones I had to work with were the ships in the manual that were already represented in the sim at the time (Default, Nippon Maru, Nihon Kaigun, and FotRSU).

All that was needed to be done was match the image to the in-sim ship folder/configuration/upc file(s) to verify that the mast-heights were the same as the ones in real life (ONI-209 values). No need for you to go through 300+ pages of images/manual since that part is already done. :03:

The reason you have a graphic with all the different ship types with the radio page is because -- the plan, anyway -- was to have you theorize what you may have been looking at through the scope/bino's, then compare that to what type it may have been on the graphic (37, 24, 65, split, etc.) before figuring out the Mast-Kingpost-Funnel setup.

Once that was done you just went to the manual to get the ship put into the TDC/PK as "ID'd".

The V2 I never got to was going to break them down into folders along the lines of the same way I did the "manual" for identifying ships. Basically each "type" (1, 2, 3, 4 for passenger, 24, 34, 26, 37, etc for cargo/freighter, 65, etc for engines aft) would have it's own folder like a "country" which you would go to in order to identify the ship you were looking at.

You would still have to "click" like a madman to find a ship, but at least it would only be to get to the specific part of the book/manual in order to get to the ship, and not through the ENTIRE manual as it it now.

I'd planned on doing the same with the combat ships as well (US-CV, JP-DD, UK-DE, GE-SS, etc.) so you're not frantically clicking away for a DD while "Bungo Pete" is doing the "Wasabe Watusi" over your soon-to-be grave. :03:

I then read somewhere that ALL merchants are placed into one "category" by the sim and that it's hard-coded for that. If that's the case, then maybe it would be just better to have them listed by type-number from lowest to highest. It would mean you would still have to click a while to get to the composites and the splits, but at least it would be in a sequential manner so that they are not all over the place like they are now.

Of course, this would also involve changing the names of some of the ships to their "type" instead of the name. The "Conte Verde" would be the "type-code" of "3" and the M-K-F setup, but the actual "NAME" in the control file (which is tied to the missions/campaigns) would remain UNCHANGED in order to keep compatibility. You would just see a different name to something you may have already memorized. :D

I'll post some more when I find the stuff since this is already starting to get WAY too long! :D
