I followed the instructions, but the game keeps crashing when loading a patrol. I tried the 4gb patch, but that did not help either. I have the stock Steam version of the game btw.

How did you "install" KC?? You mention the 4Gig Patch, but KC already has that activated in the H.sie "fix". You mention "... crashing when loading a patrol." Are you trying to use old Save files? KC is not backwards compatible with anything. The instructions say to download the 7-zip file to a folder, and extract it. It is ready to go from there. You have to delete your old save folder, or you have to use the MultiSH3 (included in the modded game's 'root' folder) to create a new 3-character Save folder (such as "KC1"), and you might have to adjust the SH3.exe Properties to match your computer hardware. Select the SH3.exe file, right-click and choose "Properties". On that window, click on the "Compatibility" tab and make certain "Run this program as an administrator" is ticked". You might also have to set the "Compatibility box to something between WinXP SP1 and Windows 7. You might also have to "Disable full screen optimizations". You might also have to "Change high DPI settings" to "Application". All of those are dependent upon your computer. Must - have - more - data... :salute:

I installed inside my steam folder. It worked for a while but I got a runtime error.

Still the same problem. You say "Steam folder", but where is your Steam folder? Is it a separate Steam Library folder, or is it the default Steam location of "C:\Program Files (x86) \Steam \steamapps \common \GameFolder" ?? Did you "activate" the mod with JSGME? If so, that is incorrect. The Steam folders will over-write any changes the user has made if you invoke the check files function of Steam. Since you have a Steam SH3, that takes care of your Windows Registry entries. Keep the Steam SH3 away from the KC modded version. Using File Explorer, open a valid hard drive (or SSD) location, such as your "C:" drive. Right-click anywhere between the folder icons column, and the "Date modified" column. Left-click on "New" on the context menu, then choose "Folder". Name it whatever you want. As an example, I use "Games". So now you have a "path" of "C:\Games". Make a folder under that, such as "KC1", or whatever you want. You now have a path of "C:\Games \KC1". Put the "GWX-Knights Cross Edition v1.0.7z" in that folder, and extract it. If you have 7-Zip installed to have its dialog in the File Explorer, you don't need to create a "KC1" folder, and can just put the 7z file in the "Games" folder, and use the right-click context menu on the 7z file, and "Extract to..." with its own folder name of "GWX-Knights Cross Edition v1.0". Either way, once extracted, find the "MultiSH3.exe" file, and run it. Type "KC1" where the "SH3" name is, and "Save" that, then exit MultiSH3, and you should be good to go. If you want a shortcut on your desktop, right-click on an empty spot on the desktop, and select "New", and then "Shortcut" from the menu, and point it at the SH3.exe location in the KC folder. Name it whatever you want.

It's working so far. If it keeps crashing I will try your advice.
